Ever since I joined [livejournal.com profile] garfielddaily again, I always enjoy how they put in some old strips from that same day but different yrs. I like to see how much the characters have progressed in the designs though to be honest, I think I'll always be a fan of the older stuff, maybe not so much of the very first Garfield design, but later in the 80's. Seeing some of the past strips bring back memories cause I'd recall some of them in those hard back Garfield books they used to release (not sure if they still do that or not but my older sis started and then got me doing it).

I always love moments like this cause it's soooooo soooo TRUE! And not only that but if you have two papers; one that you are really looking at and the other serves as a decoy, the cat will GO STRAIGHT to the one you are truly looking at.

But see how smaller and fatter Garfield looks than now? The present day Garfield, his legs are too lean and long. You can totally see the difference if you look at the older strips and the new ones to compare to.

And what's funny is seeing the way Garfield is walking in that strip, looks exactly the way Sam walks. Not sure if it's cause of the weight or what but his back-end sticks up like that too. Also, not only does Sam try to lay on whatever kind of paper you are messing with, but if I do any kind of exercises on the floor (laying or sitting), he feels that he has to be where I am and just plop down next to me (mostly leaning) to where I can barely do any kind of workout.

I love this one too.

As for the itchies, Garfield has expressed my sentiments exactly, aside from the scratching part of course.

The area I had biopsied two weeks ago on my left shoulder is finally healing and every now and then it will ITCH like CRRRRRRAZZZZZY!!!! THANK GOD I have not woken up in the middle of the night by catching myself scratching it cause I would be in a world of hurting. Oh, for those that I told about my issue, the test came back negative. *phew!*
Today's Garfield was amusing, I like that "in your face" frame. Damn that cat has big feet but I guess he needs something to balance himself out for his belly.

I finally got around to watching the SpongeBob eps. "Atlantis SquarePantis". It was quite a weird eps. almost had a Willy Wonka feel to it (not including the singing too). The Atlantians were creepy in that *Blue Meanie sort of way and the Lord Royal Highness was voiced by David Bowie which amused me but his voice fit that creepiness of the character.

Makes me wonder who was smoking the crack when they came up with the idea for that eps.

*Blue Meanie as in the Beatles "Yellow Sub. cartoon movie bad guys"

Stephen King has a new book called Duma Key and from what I'm reading of the reviews on LJ, sounds like it's one of his best newer titles. Now I have to remind myself to call mom to see if her work got any in yet and send me my copy!

I decided to throw a Valentine Day challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] renji_rukia for those interested here.

I can't remember if it was the end of Dec or early Jan when we got new tires on the vehicles at Sears so while we were waiting, we walked through the store and checked out their discounted X-mas stuff. The products on this one shelf had me giggling. They had "A Christmas Story" town pieces. They had Ralphie's house, the store, the flag pole incident (complete with the kid's tongue stuck to the pole), and a few others. Thought it was a cute set up. I'm sure if you google it, there should be pics somewhere.

Shows how much I'm slacking in the music dept. but I finally got the chance to hear the new Foo Fighters album "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" (since it came out last Sept.). Really good album but then again, I don't think there was ever a Foo album I didn't like. Now I regret not going to see them live when they came to Dallas last Wed. I hope they come back around cause I'd totally go. I bet they are pretty good live.

I also uploaded the video for "The Pretender". Dave looks a little...ummm...hagard? greasy? I don't know, the texture of his hair isn't all that great and he needs to trim his beard. But still awesome none the less. Overall, the vid is pretty neat, especially the explosion of water near the end.

We went riding with our group last Sunday (the last time we did this was I believe before Thanksgiving) and almost turned back to go home. First off, it was pretty foggy when we left the house. Then while driving to the meeting spot, the weather was just so icky miserable that in that bit of distance, my feet were already freezing and I was even wearing double socks. I'm actually surprised that bubba didn't change his mind about heading home. I do know that we both need decent boots. When we headed out on the road once everyone showed up, I swear the next stop couldn't come soon enough. Now I don't mind my hands getting cold cause it seems like they eventually get warm after I go through some numbness but my feet are a different story. I'm always afraid of getting frost bite and the last thing I need are my feet to give me problems. It took a bit to get some feeling back in them when we stopped. The fog was also supposed to lift around 9-10am but it didn't clear up till almost 11. Once we were on some back roads, the sun finally came out and it actually felt pretty decent, just sad that it took that long for it to warm up. Regardless if we get decent boots or not, I still want to look into getting some battery operated heated socks.

And that's my rundown for the week.
I'm sure the flist is getting tired of seeing these but as of right now, Jim Davis is on a roll of creating some funny strips. He does has his bad days where some strips just drag on.

Awww...so cute yet funny.

Up to no good!

You can't forget about Odie )

As she does every yr., the artist from Solid & Etc. (the most awesome Hellsing artist out there!) always offers the fans 3 choices of her art that she makes for the holiday. You can choose 1 or all 3. I normally choose all 3 cause I love to see what everything looks like. I got my email from her on the 24th and thought I'd share the goods with the flist.

There has been so much awesome & lovely goods being created for the RenRuki holiday exchange in [livejournal.com profile] renji_rukia and even though I plan on making one full post of all the entries, I have to share this piece that was posted this morning.

Thought yesterday's Garfield was pretty cute:

I realized I need a Garfield icon but don't know of what.
*sighs* God damn I love this band!! I rank Beat Crusaders as high as I do Type O Negative and that's saying a helluva lot when it comes from me since I don't normally treat bands like this. I swear this band seems like they have constant high energy that you can't help but draw into. Considering the members are older than me (by almost ten yrs), I give them alot of credit for the stuff that they are constantly doing and still love what they do.

I believe this was this yr's Rising Sun Rock Fest. Beat Crusaders w/ Asparagus and YSIG. The dude without the mask on keyboard is JJ from Your Song Is Good. I bet Hidaka feels naked since it's a rare case where he's not with a guitar.

I'm also blown away at how HUGE these rock festivals they have over in Japan and the participation from the crowd is like O____________O, wow!

Fool Groove lyrics:

Got to go, I got to go
I fall in lonely love with you
Uh ah

Got to go, I got to go
I'm so in lonely love with you
Uh ah

Don't know how many time I try
I wanna tell you 'bout it over the night
Don't know why, baby, no reply
I'm gonna hang out with you over the world

Love will shine with you
Don't go anymore
Don't go anymore
Fool groove
Love will shine with you
For evermore
It's for evermore
With you

Bubba sent this to me this morning and I can't stop watching and laughing at it. Those with cats will get a kick out of it and would probably no doubt relate to what the cat is doing aside from what happens at the end. *laughs*

I also uploaded the clip for those who are wanting to have the actual clip for themselves: Kitty Wake Up

And for the procrastinators:

And speaking of kitty, Sam seems to be doing MUCH better and can only hope that the situation stays that way. I was shocked that he didn't even try to fight me when I gave him a bath on Sunday.

As for Devil May Cry, I wasn't going to worry about the rest of the eps. but said fuck it cause I already had uploaded 1-4 awhile back so I might as well finish it since the series did end at 12 eps.

So here ya be:

I got my Beat Crusaders cds/dvds in the mail this morning. Man, talk about fast shipping. HMV processed my order on the 1st and they arrived yesterday (I didn't get the notice in the mail till late last night). And that came from Japan. They may have shipped it express but I must say the price was pretty decent.

Speaking of Beat Crusaders, I made an entry about a bunch of goodies and I highly recommend anyone to dl the song I have posted. I can't stop listening to it, it's such a powerful, punch in the gut song. Damn I love Hidaka's vocals.

I also posted some YT links to their recent live stuff as well as two awesome acoustic sets. You can check out the entry here.

I couldn't help but post this, Sunday's Garfield had me laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes. I'm sure ALL us cat lovers know this all too well.

Sunday morning we had a massive storm come through. It came from the west so we were right into it when we left the DFW airport to drop off my f-i-l. It got so black and it poured it's ass off. I first thought the clouds were going north but it eventually caught up to us at the house around 9am. The clouds were kinda creepy looking but pretty damn neat.

The pics beneath the cut are what bubba took when the Fire Dept was on storm watch. I'm really surprised no tornado came through especially for how those clouds looked. The lightening show on the way home from the airport was pretty damn cool.

OMG! I can't stop laughing. My gut hurts too much. What's been going on recently is that they went to a new coffee shop and didn't know just how many brands of coffee the place had. Any chance that someone could try and make icons out of any of the pics?

Got around to watching #20 of the Bleach dub this morning. Gin's voice kinda makes me giggle but Kenpachi's voice is pretty good, if they can get Ken-chan's voice like that, why in the fuck couldn't they have given Renji the same treatment??!!

During the "knock my hat off my head" training with Urahara and Ichigo, I laughed so hard at Urahara. Listen to what he says after Ichigo warned him about the move he was about to make with his sword. "Whut?" It's like dude, could you smoke anymore weed?

I still bust up when the gang meets up at Urahara and Yoruichi is being all serious telling Ichigo as to why his friends are there, and Ichigo's reaction is more focused on the talking cat. Then the response from Chad and Ishida was hilarious too.

Here is something I noticed that I don't believe was mentioned before but once the group goes through the gate, Urahara places his hand on the barrier and gets zapped. Is that reaction to him touching it cause he can't go back to SS or what?

Anyways, here is the link to the dub eps. Ichimaru the Silver Shadow.

Today's Garfield was pretty cute:

This morning we had bouts of snow with a bit of sleet. The first round wasn't much snow but the 2nd round about 11am or so, the flakes were so FAT, I never seen flakes that huge before, not even in PA. But sadly, it only lasted for 5 mins.

New anime to pimp. I haven't been getting into all these new titles cause half of them really don't interest me but I am giving a few eps a try to see what all the hype is about.

The one that I am addicted to is Ghost Hunt. I was so enamored by it that I watched eps. 1-4 last week and got around to dl'ing 5-13 this past weekend. Well during my lunch break at work last night, I couldn't stop watching it. I watched 6 eps back to back just cause I had to know if they solved the problem that was going on at the time. This involves ghosts and the paranormal which is pretty interesting. I like all the characters and I love Mai's crush/annoyance for Kazuya (who is a very nice looking boy). If you want to find out more, read it at ANN here. Sorry, no eps to offer to my flist. I've been deleting them as I'm done watching it but I do highly recommend watching it.

ETA: Just got done watching eps. 13. Talk about depressing. Keep the tissues handy once you get near the end.

Wis. farm has third rare white buffalo.

Many may not know the significance this has and the small summary they give in the article doesn't do it justice if you don't know much about Native American culture (which I love submerging myself into reading as much as I can about the culture). I was so happy to see this happen again considering I didn't know that Miracle died till I read about it in someones LJ early last yr. I still have the magazine clipping when she was born.

It's no surprise that the farm has had another white buffalo, said Floyd "Looks for Buffalo" Hand, a medicine man in the Oglala Sioux Tribe in Pine Ridge, S.D. He said it was fate that the white buffaloes chose one farm, which will become a focal point for visitors, who make offerings like tobacco and dream catchers in the hopes of earning good fortune and peace.

One of the many things I love about their culture are the names that are passed down from generations. How awesome of a name is that?

"That's destiny," he said. "The message was only choose one person."

That this latest birth is a male doesn't make it any less significant in American Indian prophecies, which say that such an animal will reunite all the races of man and restore balance to the world. The coat on this animal, like Miracle before it, will change from white to black, red and yellow, the colors of the various races of man, before turning brown again, he said.

That is true considering that you don't hear of other farms producing the amount of white buffaloes like this one has. Truthfully though, I don't see this one living long enough for its coat to turn after it's brown. I have different views about it but I'll just keep it to myself cause it requires too much brain power to discuss at the moment.

The only thing that doesn't seem right is:

Women have long been revered in American Indian culture but men now need to take responsibility for their families and the future of the tribe, he said. The birth of this male signifies that, he said.

"It's the time for man's responsibilities," Hand said. "They're not listening to their children, they're not hugging them. They're not telling them what life is about."

I just don't see anything changing in their families just cause this male was born. If it slowly does, then so be it.

Today's Garfield was funny and the doggy was cute. I see myself in the way Garfield is behaving in the last panel. *lol*

Couldn't help it. Jim Davis has been on a roll of making me giggle.

Beneath cut is last Sunday's strip since Sunday's are bigger.

Now THAT'S what I call a shit eating grin! )

Jon was Liz's date for a Veterinary Lecture hence the scenes in the recent strips.

Can't stop laughing at Jon's taste in clothing.

Puttering around till we get ready to go to the con. I couldn't stop laughing at today's Garfield.

And the one from Thurs was pretty funny too. I'm sure alot of us can relate to that.

So many good strips lately that would be awesome to see used for icons.

HOLY SHIT!! CAN IT BE??!! OMG! *flails*

Jim Davis, you finally hooked them up!??!!! For those that DON'T KNOW, it's Liz, Garfield's vet that Jon has been pining for in what seems like, well, forever!

I think I had a few tears in my eyes when I saw this. In fact, you could see it building up in the previous strips these past few days.

Jon may have gotten a life but he still has bad taste in fashion. *laughs*

If you want to see what happened before this, go here and check out the previous strips.
