Gungrave #26 raw
*sigh* Hmmmm....trying to gather thoughts on how I felt about the final end to this series. God I soooo didn't want it to end already!
The very beginning, I had to laugh at the kitty scene and how kitty saw Bunji's form. Kitty seemed happy and ran off towards the area.
I know that when the sub FINALLY comes out, things will make alot more sense but till then, it leaves you scratching your head. All this time, Harry and Brandon wanted to kill each other so bad but yet they act like nothing was wrong, just paling around, talking about the past and drinking.
I like how they had that added affect with the "ghosts" in the background and then having it switch to a young Millenion version of Brandon and Harry then switching back to the present state.
The showdown was pretty interesting with the remaining members of the Syndicate as they tried to take down Harry and I would say Brandon but seems that Brandon was there at the time when it all went down. Its just weird to see them fighting beside each other, I don't know what the fuck they were waiting for? Were they going to save it to when the time came that they were going to try and kill each other or w/out having anyone else interfere?
But this eps really showed the true deep meaningful friendship between Harry and Brandon (even though some friend you got when they kill you in the first place -__- ) At least when Harry thought he was dead after the building blew up, his very last thought was of Sherry. Its funny when you think about that couple especially in the earlier eps. Harry didn't seem like the kind that would finally settle down but perhaps he didn't want to go against Bear's wrath ^_~. But his love for her came out full force in #25.
When I saw the men with the Anti Necro Rise guns, I was on the edge of my seat cause I didn't want to see Grave taken down so easily like that.
Its odd to see Brandon's reaction when Harry was shot at again. Would it have been any different if he actually pulled the trigger on him instead? And the other would have been, WOULD Brandon have the will to shoot Harry in the first place if the Syndicate didn't show up?
The ending was sad, right when Harry crawled over to Brandon's form and then seeing Brandon actually crying :( What a coincidence how Brandon used the same gun on Harry that Harry used to kill Brandon in #14.
As sad as it is to see Mika being on her own now, at least she was able to know the man that she could live the memories off of her father and mother and Brandon himself.
The very ending is fitting with showing everyone that is dead. And it is funny when it came to Bunji, he was the only one that didn't call out Brandon's name but called him brother. You'd never think that Brandon made such an impact on Bunji's life but he did in some ways. Hence why I can't wait to watch the series again only when the rest of the subs come out. Course, can't forget how Maria was the last to smile and call out Brandon's name *sad smiles* The chibi scene was adorable since it seemed like that was the first time Harry and Brandon ever met. I thought earlier from eps.14 that they already knew each other cause of being in the orphanage together but I guess not. I think by that scene alone is when their lives changed as they grew up.
As much as the ending is a bit of a tear jerker, I think the series as a whole covered a good bit of ground (of what they could anyways) with the characters and their lives. Even though I would like to have seen more covered but then ppl would've thought the series was dragging on. Still a pretty excellent series. The ending also was a bit to get use to considering that I'm so use to the "better" ending to the game, though the ending for the anime was a nice way of a closure, though I wouldn't mind seeing Gungrave OD animated!
The seiyuus were an excellent bunch! Seki Tomokazu, even though Brandon never really talked very much, but his emotional scenes and screams, yells, and cries blows me away for a small guy who can belt out such emotion. One of the reasons why I'm still a bit skeptical about how the dub is going to sound. Harry's crazy stints, his evil laughter, and his crying is another sign of a great voice actor at work here. Just an overall great cast.
Also bought the Apr. issue of Newtype and will work on typing out the Gungrave article. The pic is the same pic I had posted two months ago with Grave and his hat. Thanx to Tora for sending me that pic awhile back too! The other pic is old crazy Harry with a stained glass church background. Will have to find a way to scan that pic in cause I think its pretty good.
Damn, I have two emotional series recently to watch. Between the end of Gungrave to eps.25 of Full Metal Alchemist *wibbles*
On a side note though, I'm so close to finishing this 3x11 icon fic meme. The only problem, I can't stop adding more scenes to it ^^;; Once that is taken care of, I will try to work on adding more smut scenes to the 11x3 fic and work on Scarbie's icon request of Brandon and Maria's dance scene ^_______^
