Vacation part 2 including Yucatan with pics
I'm going to try my best on recalling what all we did and such. Pic links are under the cut as well.
Monday was spent just lazying around on the ship by the pool. I didn't get too sun burnt but bubba got burnt BAD course he didnt' wear any sunscreen either. He looked like a lobster and it looked painful, even burnt his scalp. Needless to say that was the last day he stayed out of the sun like that during the trip *lol*
In the evening they had some shows going on as well as bingo. So damn close to winning too ($500 at that). They had 3 comedians on the ship for different nights. Mon night they had this black guy on who's last name I can only recall it being Thomas. Pretty funny guy, though I still want to kick our ass for sleeping straight through the midnight show where its the R version. Like the announcer said during the intro to the other midnight shows "if you get easily offended or under the required age (18 I think), then get the hell out." *lol yeah!*Course with these comedians, they say what different comedy shows they were on tv and one being C.Central. Might by why the Thomas guy looked familiar but not the others.
Different things of the ship and misc. For the most part the descriptions speak for themselves. I still have to upload a few pics from the Battleship of Texas pics.
Tues.'s run down at Yucatan and the 4x4 Jeep excursion.
Got off the boat Tues morning and headed to the port area where everyone was supposed to meet up with their assigned excursions. Once our group was all together we headed to where the jeeps were parked and sorted ppl out with a group of 4 if everyone was going together. We had just enough ppl to where bubba and I got a jeep to ourselves. He asked me if I wanted to drive at all and was like "no, thats okay, you can."
They took us through the streets of whatever town we were at (the main city in Yucatan was like 40miles or so where we were) You look at those areas and wonder how ppl can live in the buildings we saw but they cope somehow, it was even worse once we got out in the middle of no where when it came to the places that ppl lived in. This one area on the road we had to travel, there was some sort of a water area to the left and right (wouldn't know what to call it) of the road. You couldn't drive fast enough to get away from the smell. UGH! It was sooooooooooo bad, smelled like shit, like ALOT of shit. Thank god we got out of that spot when we did, not even holding my shirt to my nose could make the smell go away.
I feel bad cause I don't even know the town we were in when we stopped to sight see at this old church. The story behind it was, when the Spaniards invaded that area where the Mayans had occupied, the war between the two went on for 50 yrs. Where the church was built by the Spaniards originally was a Mayan temple that they destroyed (how ignorant!). But before that, the bigass old tree by the church was planted by the Mayans had something to do with how they would plant a tree next to every temple they built. I can't even recall the reason anymore. Surprisingly enough they still use the church and this church is beyond calling it old. There is a section they have a wall built that separates the "newer" area to the area where they are trying to preserve the original structure such as the paintings on the ceiling and walls. Sure the art & designs were neat to see but it was actually creepy looking. I always found the ancient artifacts, paintings and such when it came to religion & God to creep me out. I wished bubba would've taken more pics of the room that had the paintings & statues. The dark colored Christ in the pic, we were told that the Mayans did not believe in the "blue eyed, light haired Christ" that the white ppl believed in. So if they were going to be forced to Catholicism they told the "whites" that they'll believe in their own version of what he looked like so they allowed them to portray Christ in their own eyes. (shocking)

Next stop was heading to one of the only remaining Hacienda's in the area that is still kept up to date. Course its not in use but they keep it maintained. It's like waaaaaaay out in the middle of nowhere and who knew something was even back there on the long back road we had to travel just to get there. Very pretty inside and out and the living quarters for the "owner" back in the day was just as pretty. They never did point out where the workers slept at unless that building wasn't near the Hacienda itself. I wished I would've brought my bathing suit along cause that pool was sooooooooooo tempting. We could swim in it which bubba and a few others did but I didn't want to jump in with the clothes I was wearing unlike what bubba did.
Once we got ready to leave, the guide took us out in an area where you could REALLY do some off roading with the jeeps. OMFG! I was hanging onto the front bar on the dashboard for dear life. We almost had to have been off the ground when we went over the small bumps and hills. For those that have ever been with me when it comes to riding a roller coaster and how I scream and yell, well this was how I was behaving too, plus I couldn't stop laughing. (I mean come on, this is bubba we're talking about here when it comes to driving *lol*). It was loads of fun though aside from the dust.
On the way back we went through the small villages, the kind that also make you wonder how they can survive out there. Especially when it comes to how do they earn money? There was like nothing out there.
So heading back to the main town near the port, since we took a different road to get back, again, there was an area for god knows HOW LONG we had to drive by it till we got away from the smell. The shit smell was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad, even worse when we first started out on the excursion. And as sad as this sounds, that whole area reminded me of Kuwait, between the buildings, sights, out in the middle of bum fuck nowhere, course the heat & the smell of shit.
When we finally got back to the town to look around at a few stores before we headed back to the ship, you have the locals all up your ass trying to convince you to buy something. Sure you have to make a living somehow but damn. As we were driving back to the ship, there was an area I would've liked to have checked out that seemed to have tons of stuff to look at and buy but didn't have the time to really do so.
They had quite a few shops at the port area where the ship was docked that we did the most shopping at. I bought this awesome ummm.....I believe its just a wall hanging and not a blanket for only $30 and this thing is HUGE. Even my short ass can't hold it up off the ground since its so long and wide. I'll have to find a way to get a pic of it regardless if I have bubba hold it up for me or lay it down on the floor to get a good pic.
So that pretty much sums it up for that day and the brief stay at Yucatan.
Here are the few pics we took, there would have been more if all the pics from the reg. camera would've turned out.
Next up will be Cozumel though that will be a write up all on its own. Plus I have to go through the grueling task of uploading alllllllllllllll the pics & underwater pics. I may or may not have it ready by the end of the week but thats okay, don't want to try and rush a good thing *laughs*.
