Oh god!! Don't you know it?? I think what helps this along for Renji is that dog reference. Plus, awhile back, there was a japanese fanartist that drew Renji as the wolf, Rukia as Red Hood, and a chibi Bya spazzing out totting a gun. Such a hot pic too, I'll have to dig around for it and show you that I saved.
