I FINALLY got a chance to go back and redo my babble about this series. I also will most likely sound like a blubbering idiot but thats what happens when my brain starts to think too hard when you have only 2 eps and a background story game to go by.

toranookami for letting me know about Gungrave, I’m addicted to it and there’s only been 2 eps so far.
wardove asked me a good question the other day. Will they be using or sticking to the storyline that they have in the game? From what I’ve seen lately, I want to say yes, in odd ways though.
I downloaded two amvids the other night regarding Gungrave, one being a song done to Bring me to life by Evanescence and that vid has actually filled in some questions ALREADY that I was pondering on. As well as seeing the scenes that they used from the game as well as the characters talking (you see it in the text while they talk), really helped.
Keep in mind that for ANYONE aside from us three that are watching this anime and you do NOT want to be ruined by spoilers, DO NOT click on the link.
I watched eps 2 the other night and already I’m starting to feel sadness regarding Brandon’s character. He looks to be such a sweet guy but yet I wonder why he doesn’t talk. Okay, let me scratch that. So far his character doesn’t talk when they show him but that is his voice speaking in the beginning and the end of eps.2 when it came to questions of the past. One of the many reasons why I hope to hell that they cover some background as the eps go on. Plus him being on that bish factor is always a plus ^_~. So yeah, the ending theme leaves you thinking as well as what they showed in eps. 2, that his friend Harry and Brandon were just that, good friends to the end. Little do we know what the truth is!!!!
Why do I have a feeling that I’m already going to dread if and when they show Brandon get killed??!! It seems that Harry is behind a lot of shit that’s going on and it wouldn’t surprise me that he sets Brandon up. In ways we still have yet to see.
The thing that amazes me is how sometimes if they base an anime on a game, they don’t always stick to the character designs. Some not all and Gungrave is that example. In the game, that I saw on this amvid is that Brandon has short slicked back hair and wears glasses. And you will see Grave wear glasses too and missing an eye, both the game character and the anime character. The setting from the game is Harry and Brandon are going up in this high rise building where Harry tells Brandon::
Harry: Brandon, lets kill the boss.
Brandon looks on in shock
Harry: Maria would be yours. (as we all know, she’s the chick that Brandon seemed to have a crush on as well as Maria with him).
Brandon looks pissed and punches Harry.
Harry: I’m disappointed
And proceeds to empty his gun into Brandon and the last shot he aims his gun to Brandon’s eye which then leads to Brandon falling out of the window at such a high drop too.
After seeing the amvid has already made me kinda understand what is going to happen but why? Why did Harry turn on him and what was in it for Harry? As we can see in eps 1. it’s Harry who seems to be the main cheese when they had that meeting and had a hissy fit when he saw that Brandon was still alive (so to speak). But you wouldn’t think it was Harry considering how he aged. It also kinda reminds me of the Spike, Julia, and Vicious relationship on Bebop. The beginning theme to the anime shows Brandon’s name spray painted on a wall and cue in on his pic, same goes with Harry’s name and his pic and then you see Maria’s name painted on a fence and they show her pic. Reading what the game is about, I still wonder if they will be using that kind of setting for the anime, even though its only on eps 2 (unless #3 came out recently), they haven’t mentioned anything about drugs or something called a “seed” yet.
I’m wondering if the boss that Harry told Brandon about killing was maybe Maria’s father or uncle since in the anime, her uncle wouldn’t allow her to be with Brandon. And her uncle also had those agent looking type guys come visit. This kinda has that mafia feel to it.
Also I wonder what kind of powers that Grave will possess since the Dr. said about “It’s alright while it’s still dormant, but once its awake, it will take over everything. The past.” and we saw that when Grave took a walk and stopped in front of the building that we saw Brandon doing pull ups in in eps 2, Grave started to have a mental attack. Almost like he’d turn into some funky beast if he thinks about the past. Also it seems that Brandon does have something special about him, when they were fighting Deeds men, the guy with the gun started to freak out when Brandon just gave him a dirty look. Plus it was badass when Brandon head butted the one thug and broke his nose while the impact didn’t seem to affect Brandon. *shrugs* We have yet to know all.
But the thing about the glasses is weird cause Grave does wear them in the anime but yet Brandon didn’t, as we have seen so far compared to what they have in the game. Grave is up on that bish factor too if you don’t mind overly buffed anime men (kinda pic DBZ males when they are bare-chested) No wonder he has to be so buffed too for having to carry that coffin carrying case that holds his guns which is still bad ass. Also in eps 1 where they are having the shoot out in the graveyard, you see Grave have another mental attack when he thought about Maria and looked at the make-shift grave which it seemed to have triggered his coffin case to open and bring forth his guns, kinda like how Wolfwood’s crosspunisher is.
And here is the real kicker!! The game features artwork by Naito Yasuhiro, of Trigun fame. No wonder this anime has that Trigun feel to it, how fucking awesome is that??!!!(yeah I remember what you told me about the other day Tora) Now I just wished I was into these kind of games cause I wouldn’t mind buying it. It says it’s for playstation 2 but it would be nice if they could release one for the reg. playstation owners and no, I will not go out and buy a PS2 just for a game. If that would be the case and I bought the game, I’d probably end up crying or in hysterics than what I would playing the game cause of knowing what part of the story is. Yeah, I know I’m a sad case.
Damn I’m anxious for more of this anime, I wanna know A LOT and how they managed to create Grave’s body from Brandon. I must say that I really dig the music they use in it, not just the background music but the OP and ED songs.
