Man, this eps is even more emotional now that we know what was said. Just some thoughts on the matter....

These thoughts aren't in order to don't expect to read it that way.

First off, I'm going to talk about the ending. Did anyone notice the coincidences of Bear's death and his friend Cid?? Cid had chosen his son, to protect his son than to give him up or have him killed for betraying. Then Brandon went and put Cid out of his misery. Bear was in the same situation when he pretty much had Brandon end his suffering. I just found it funny how they had those two parts so similar yet it was fitting for Bear's situation.

Regardless of who's side he took, I always found Bear to be a very loyal and kind man not only to family but to those that he trusted with his work. I too couldn't see him retiring even when given the "freedom" to do so. I had a feeling that eventually he would've gotten on Sheri and Harry's case about the "grandchilden" speech and got a kick out of Sheri's embarrassment.

My heart went out to Mika more when she had the conversation with Grave about now knowing why her mother fell in love with Brandon. I think this eps and the one coming up is going to be a tear jerker with these two (at least to know what is finally being said). And in some ways, I was a bit shocked to see Bear giving his "condolences" so to speak to Mika about what happened to Maria.

I feel that in some ways, Bear only really backed up Harry was cause of Sheri's love for him and he only wanted to make her happy, no matter what other kind of ill feelings he might have had about Harry. But this is the thing that kills me, everyone is asking WHY Brandon/Grave is doing what he's doing by protecting Mika. Yet everyone else has their reason for protecting, such as Lee, Bear, and Harry. Why should Brandon be questioned why he protects what he does?? Isn't it obvious from the start??? They worked with him in the past, don't you think they would know by now?? Even though I'm going to watch the series all over again soon, but I don't quite recall Bear having much of a closeness with Brandon but I guess it was enough that perhaps Bear admired Brandon's will?? You can't help but admire Bear's choice to fight Brandon as a human being and not just another person from the Syndicate.

The beginning with Harry and the group meeting, the one guy couldn't have said it better to Harry about how it seems that Brandon was mostly after Harry from the start so it should be just Harry's problem to take care of, not involving other ppl who had no part of Harry's rage and jealousy. But yeah yeah, the whole "Family", Iron Law, Syndicate bull is why the others are fighting Harry's fight for.

Am I the only one who was thinking about Bear's Superior form this time around? I think he DID have two forms. The first was right before he demolished the building he and Brandon were in. His arms got really big but no freaky shit till later. Perhaps the change of his arms was his first form, it would only make sense since he DID have two forms in the game (even though they didn't keep with the design that he used in the game which is fine).

Such a bittersweet and sad eps yet its so fitting for the characters in this one.

So [livejournal.com profile] scarbie, once I'm done with these fics I have to complete, I'll get to thinking more about the Bear idea we spoke about earlier.

Will try to work on making caps before the end of the week.

This was a great episode. It showed a lot more of Bear's character. That was an awesome scene when he dismissed the Overkill and walked off to meet Grave alone. I really liked the dinner scene. It's a shame that Bear never got to have any grandkids. I thought it was really interesting that he was waiting for a granddaughter. I guess Bear loves his little girls. *sniffs* It's a shame for Sherry that she never had the chance to have children. Gungrave has done an excellent job with foreshadowing and all that other good stuff. Cid and Bear's situations were very similar.

I feel that in some ways, Bear only really backed up Harry was cause of Sheri's love for him and he only wanted to make her happy, no matter what other kind of ill feelings he might have had about Harry.

He was an honorable man. It's a shame that his daughter fell in love with the wrong man. I think that's the only reason why he supported Harry. If I'm recalling episode 13 correctly he sounded shook up when he was talking to Harry at Randy's funeral. I got the impression that if Harry wasn't involved with Sherry then, he would have been looking like swiss cheese.

That scene with Mika and Grave got to me too. She's grown so attached to him and has learned so much about him. She's quite a bit different from the Mika that was digging for info in episode 20.

But this is the thing that kills me, everyone is asking WHY Brandon/Grave is doing what he's doing by protecting Mika.

That is weird. Like you said they all worked with Brandon they should know what type of man he is.

Bear and Grave's fight was pretty interesting. It was cool how it started off in the serene setting and then all hell broke loose. Hmmm... you might be right about Bear having two forms in the anime. I never thought about it that way. If Bear had his game forms in the anime that would have been really strange. *LOL* A big ol' motorcycle arm or whatever the heck his last form was.

So scarbie, once I'm done with these fics I have to complete, I'll get to thinking more about the Bear idea we spoke about earlier.

Yay! ^____________^ Looking forward to the story.
