Pics of my KITTIES!! And the fishtank!!

Okay, I held back on the news for a week now since #1. I wanted to get pics and #2. trying to find the time to write about it.

We did adopt the kitty we saw at Petsmart last Mon. that bubba liked. Not a bad price for a cat who is already declawed, fixed, and has his shots. He's a little over a yr old and we call him Smokey cause of his color. I was very nervous about taking him home cause of knowing how Sam would act. But we were a bit surprised on how Sam did react. He did hiss and growl a little but that was about it. Then for about a week, he would walk up to Smokey, smack him across the head with his paw and then walk off, as if letting him know who rules the roost. There are times still that they get on bad sides and hiss, growl, and throw fits but still not as bad as I thought it would be. Sometimes they'll chase each other down the hallway or they kinda fight over who gets to sit on the windowsill in my computer room (where most of these pics are taken except where Smokey is laying on the sill). Smokey had/has some bad habits such as trying to chew on my computer cords, go behind my compy stand, JUMP on the fucking counters and found the bread wrapper torn into -__________-;;;;;. We now had to move the bread to the top of the fridge. Have to find the squirt water bottle and start spraying him when we catch him in the act of jumping on things. Now the furniture is no prob, just not in the kitchen. THEN I caught the bastard CHEWING a small hole in the screen in the window in my room!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't see him do it since but we're going to break him of that habit SOON if he keeps that shit up.

I'm so use to having a fat cat around the house, Smokey needs to gain some weight *snickers* MY GOD! When we were going home after we bought the cat, he smelled SO BAD and we don't know why. Perhaps staying in the cage so long and I've seen some cats at the stores lay in their litter box cause of not enough space to lay down. Bubba EVEN smelled like the cat cause he was holding him till we got a box carrier to put the cat in. Course as soon as we got home, I had to give the cat a bath and boy was that fun >__< at least he didn't have claws. Sam doesn't even put up a fight like Smokey did but he sure smells better now *nodsnods*.

I kinda felt bad at first cause I'm sure Sam was pissed at us for a few days for replacing him. He wouldn't really let us touch him but he finally came out of his shell. I know I sound stingy for saying this but I love Sam the most, even though I will find room to love Smokey, but it'll take some time to get use to having two cats now. I'll put a link to the pics at the end of the entry.

[livejournal.com profile] smartycat Bubba finally took a pic of the 250gal fishtank last night. He made the top cover himself and restained the stand. I woke up last night before work and saw he had it setup. I have no clue how he did it when that bitch is so heavy to carry in; dolley or no dolley.

Here be the fishtank. It may not look that big but believe me, you have to see it in person to know how big it is. Bubba thinks that we both could sit in it. This puppy is going to take quite some time and work to get everything set up for fishies.

Now, I bring you pics of the cats!!

Sam is the light haired and Smokey is the dark grey. Makes me mad with the flash cause Sam has very pretty blue eyes. And he's only fat cause he's fixed, not cause he eats alot (which he doesn't). Sam is my baby! *nodsnods* The 2nd pic of him sleeping, he had his paw over his face as if covering it. By the time I got back to take his pic, he moved his paw so this is what I got. All the pics of the cats sleeping (except Smokey on the couch), were all taken on Sunday which must have been their lazy day. Those cats slept ALL DAY!! And they wouldn't budge for nothing! If I tried to get a cd off the bed that Smokey was on in my compy room, he'd look up at me, meow, and go back right to the position he was sleeping. The 6th pic, Smokey isn't playing with Sams' tail, its just the way his paws are when he's sleeping. Man, the life of a cat!!!

what sweet kitties >^.^<

Awww! They're sooo cute! Congratulations!

It sounds like Sam is settling in nicely. We got our second cat Sasami when our first was already a few years old. Nabiki spent a few weeks bopping the new kitty on the head and chasing her (they still do that once in a while) but now thet get along really well.

Awww! They're sooo cute! Congratulations!

Thanx a bunch! They do seem to be quite the handful at times but its so funny to watch them pick fights with one another since Smokey is much thinner than what Sam is so Smokey can jump higher than what Sam can. I'm just glad that Sam took it pretty well on having a new pet around.

Congradulations on your new baby!!!!

As close to a baby as you'll ever get at least. ^.~

I saw the commerical for Wolf's Rain on Adult Swim last night. *squee*!

DANKU! You'll get to see him the next time you come around to the area. He's too skinny, he needs to put on some weight ^_~. Though with how he is, it helps him jump higher onto things like the higher windowsills, the bathroom sinks/counters, kitchen counter (which we haven't seen him do since we brought him home), the windowsill above the washing machine, just places that Sam would never be caught up on.

The way I have to yell at both of the cats, it does make me feel as if I have kids, such as fighting, getting down from the places they aren't supposed to be on, quit chewing on things, ya know, those kind of things ^_~

I hope you were able to see WR. I wasn't able to and I'm still pissed about it, oh well, there's always this Sat night.

Pretty kitties! I guess I didn't remember Sam looking exactly like that. They look happy though. ^_____^

And that's one mighty huge fish tank. Is your husband planning on getting really big fish for it?

I've been thinking back on the time you seen Sam and what he looks like now and I can't put my finger on what might have changed with him. I don't think he got any fatter. I tell ya, those two are something else when they pick fights with each other and THANK GOD they don't have claws either, it wouldn't be a happy sight.

As for the tank, yeah he does want to go with bigger fish than what we have in the other tank in the living room. Plus I told him it would only make sense to have bigger fish in that tank instead of the other. That tank is going to take a lot of planning to do on how to set it up the way he wants.

Awww! Smokey is sooo cute! I'm glad that he and Sam are getting along pretty well. Heh, sounds like Sam likes bread, computer cords, and window screens.

Damn that is a HUGE fish tank!!!

Smokey and Sam are a riot when they pick fights with one another. I'm just thankful that they don't have claws cause that would be a messy sight. I had to move the bread to the top of the fridge so Smokey can't get to it and so far, we haven't seen anything out of place on the counters that he might have jumped up on. And I haven't seen Smokey chew at the screen since the last time he was smacked for it, we just have to patch up that hole or just get a new screen.

Yeah that is a pretty big ass tank and heavy as fuck! I don't see how hubby brought the tank in the house by himself when I was sleeping. And then he wants to know why his body aches -__-

I don't know how I missed this, what with the heading and exclamation points and all. April 20th... I think I had several exams that week.

Anyways, thanks for the heads up! It is pretty big! Just looking at the dimensions of the base with the way the doors are I'm thinking it's at least 2-2.5 ft longer than ours. Can't really tell on height and width though. It should be really nice when you get it all set up.

My brother has recently discovered the joys on online fish shopping and express delivery. He completely emptied our saltwater tank except for the coral and has been restocking it:
-30 "baby" red hermit crabs
-20 "baby" blue hermit crabs
-1 arrow crab (looks like a daddy long legs on steroids)
-2 lettuce newtabrates/branches (???) (bloggy green thinks that look like lettuce and slide around like snails)
-4 peppermint shrimp
-5 emerald crabs
-3 sea urchins of various types
-4 anemones
-20 snails
-1 basset (little yellow and magenta fish)
-2 clownfish (which my almost 3 yr old neice promptly dubbed Nemo and "Merlin" and which she can tell apart somehow despite their identical appearance)

The kitties are adorable as well! I wish my cat was that photogenic, but even when she doesn't run from the camera she doesn't show up on film very well because she's a majority black tortoiseshell. *frumps* Her markings aren't anywhere near as funky and vivid as I'd hoped they'd be.

Thats why I feel for you college peeps, too much studying and too many finals.

Hubby decided to go and build a steel frame cause he didn't trust the wooden base for the tank, especially something that heavy when its empty, it'll be tons heavier with all the water. Plus since the house has a slight lean in that area, he also put adjustable legs on it so one end can be higher than the other so its even.

O__________O Regarding your bro's fish list. Hubby saw a pic of a freshwater stingray and we were thinking about setting up the new tank that way with sand on one half and gravel on the other but then we found out that they are illegal in TX. *frumps* And they are so neat looking too. I know hubby can't wait to start setting this tank up but its going to take a bit of saving on money to get things built up.

Tis a shame that your kitty isn't very photogenic. I swear you'd truly think that our cats were our kids, we have so many pics of Sam it's not even funny. He has such very pretty blue eyes that you can't see much cause of the flash.

I'll try and see if hubby can't take a pic of the other fishtank we have set up in the living room and post that later.
