Was watching the old skool version of Ren and Stimpy tonight and it brought back memories of basic training since R&S joined the Army.

The gas chamber, with the crying, the nose running, the near blindness, and some ppl even puked, thank god I didn't. Ppl just don't know how this stuff really is till they experience it themselves.

The other was the aching of the feet once you finally take your boots off. Our drill sgt's made sure to check our feet every other day to make sure that they were okay and our boots were fitting us. The long ass road marches and when it came time to THINK that you could actually sleep, as soon as you close your eyes, it was time to get up already. The craziness that Ren was going through, pretty much shows how it really can affect ppl. This is all about mental challenge and BOY HOWDY is it ever!!! You'd get so worn out that you end up walking in your sleep, many of us did.

There are times when I regret for joining the Army when I did but other times I think it was the best for me in my life. I was going no where when I was in PA and the military was my last resort. My family was behind me 100% and I never EVER saw my dad so proud of me. When they came down for my graduation, he was so interested in everything I did, I came to wonder if this was my real dad or an alien. He was never interested in what any of us girls did beforehand. During his viewing, the ppl that came and would give each of us their regards, (hubby and I were in our military uniforms), they would say how dad couldn't stop talking about his "baby" being in the Army and would always show my pics to ppl *gets embarrassed*

Yeah the military did have ALOT of its faults on draining a person out mentally but the things I got to do and places I got to see, I NEVER EVER in my lifetime thought I'd ever go to a place like Kuwait (twice at that) or the Mojave Desert in CA. I never thought I'd ever get to throw a live grenade (which is so HELLA COOL!!!!) or shoot an M16, or a grenade launcher, or a M249 Machine Gun 5.56 MM, and there was another one but I can't think what it was called. It had its good moments and really suck ass moments plus I got to meet my hubby too.

I think that anyone can do it if they put their mind to it. It just feels though at times I lost 3yrs of my life that I could've been doing something else instead of the military, what that would've been, hard to say but I cherish my civlian life more than ever. Its quite an eye opener, thats for sure.
