or in better terms "She, the Ultimate Weapon." After reading
wardove's entry yesterday about getting the dub dvd in the mail, had me wanting to dig out my subs and finally watch this short series. It's 13eps long but pending on the kind of person you are, if you don't like how some anime ends, then I don't recommend you going on after #10, but if you are the kind that is curious like me, watch it all the way through. Granted I can keep in my head that the series ended at #10 cause to me it makes a bit more sense that way and puts me in a better mood. Though if I didn't go on, I wouldn't have been able to see the love sessions between Shuuji and Chise considering that it took that long for them to really do anything.
Its a weird storyline but the story for the characters has a very strong point of conflicting emotions, feelings, etc going on that sometimes makes you wanna hit something. One set of characters feelings I got into were Tetsu (who is voiced by Miki Shinichirou) and Chise. *sniffles* I lost count on how many tissues I went through this series but I didn't go through the whole box at work thank god. The animation isn't as odd as I thought it was going to be when Dove first showed me pics of it so it doesn't really take too long to get use to.
I felt that the ending was too weird for me, then again the whole war situation was a bit confusing too since they never really said who they were fighting. It sounded like other countries were attacking but were aliens also involved, considering the weird shit that was also going on?? Chise herself reminded me of an alien in a human form.
They also did something for this anime that I wished certain other series would do, such as Gungrave for various reasons. They did a "behind the scenes" extra talking with the comic's creator, the director, seiyuu's, etc about everything regarding the original idea of the story, feelings of the characters, etc. I think that if they did something like this for Gungrave, it would help explain why the director went with the ideas that he did, especially since your getting a small idea from just the game itself. I mean I'd like to hear more from them on how they can build up something so huge with a background with so little given in the first place. Especially as to why they went with the ending that they did.
Saishuu Heiki Kanojo isn't such a bad series, its more less of how much emotional will power a person has to get into it (and try not to be confused at the same time or perhaps it was just the blonde in me ^_~). To make matters worse, I actually wouldn't mind watching it again, but perhaps at another time.
