Weekend stuff and Convention news

So my holiday weekend consisted of camping out in 90'ish degree weather, so not fun when this is happening in TX. And what doesn't make sense, the majority of the time, all we did was just sit out in the heat trying to stay in the shade we made (we meaning family and friends we camped with). There was a lake in the vicinity but heard it wasn't all that great. We could've saved money on just staying at home, cooking out, AND swim in our own pool. At least the weather was cooler at night when we went to bed. Plus on Sat & Sun, there were alot of clouds that came through, almost to the point where we thought it was going to rain even though they weren't calling for it. This has to be the first time we camped a full weekend and not have it rain on us.

I brought a bag full of fics I had printed out that I needed to catch up on reading, vol 1-3 of Bleach (english), and my sketchbook. Why is it, out of the characters I normally don't have a fondness for, I end up drawing them? So yeah, I doodled a pic of Ichigo that caught my eye in the 1st vol. Must say that it didn't turn out too bad and thank god it wasn't a full body pic. I would've tried Renji first but since I didn't bring any books that had him in it, I can't draw just from memory. I'll try and touch up the Ichi pic and then think about taking a pic of it. Pending on how self-conscious I am about my drawing.

I didn't do any fic reading but I did manage to read all 3 mangas which is always nice to go back and re-read something I haven't read in ages.

What's really sad is, when we got back on Monday and unloaded everything, we chilled out and relaxed in the pool and that was the ONLY day I got any sun/sunburn. But I guess with us staying in the shade and wearing enough clothes to cover my skin during camping prevented that.

Anime Convention stuff:

Yesterday I came across a shit load of news that makes me wanna throw a HUGEHUGE Eric Cartman tantrum. Hell, I still want to throw a tantrum every time I fucking think about it.

First off, at Anime Boston, Funimation finally spoke out about them acquiring the BECK Mongolian Chop Squad anime. This is one series I do not want to hear in english, it totally ruins the whole image of what BECK is really about. Thank god for choices on the dvd.

THEN I read about a guest for AnimeNext in NJ June 16-18.............wait for it...... Harold Sakuishi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The FUCKING CREATOR OF BECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *throws Cartman tantrum and bawls eyes out*

WTFWTFWTF MAN! ARRRRRRRGHH!! All the more reason why I loathe A-kon! Why are all these "smaller" cons getting all the awesome guests yet A-kon nearly keeps getting the same ppl or basically less Japanese guests every fucking year. How about LESS Japanese bands I never heard nor care about and more fucking Japanese guests from the industry?!?!!!?!?


eyoko, I know you'll be at that con, I might have to plead and beg you to get me an autograph or SOMETHING from Harold. Anyone else going to AnimeNext that could hook me up??!!

I would actually LOVE to go to the con just for that. It's not like I don't have the vacation time for work, its just coming up with money for the plane tix to and from. Plus it would be a short weekend trip thats for sure. But its not going to happen.

*cries in her coffee*

And THEN..... recent news for Otakon's guest:

Kouta Hirano the creator for Hellsing. *shakes head and throws hands up in the air*

Though that is one con I don't think I could brave. I heard horror stories before, I can only imagine how crazy its going to be with Hirano being there.

And this shocked me:

Funimation picked up the license for Full Metal Panic! TSR instead of it going to ADV. But I guess with half of the ppl that did voices for FMP overall, work for Funi too so I guess its really not much of a loss.


But overall, I'm still quite bummed out over the whole Harold Sakuishi/AnimeNext situation.
