After waiting for about oh.....a week and 4 days after the release, I got my Gungrave boxset in the mail today. I think after all the troubles I went through with Wolf's Rain and Gungrave, I'm no longer pre-ordering or buying online UNLESS I really have to. With the exception of one person if he can get me what I want in his grasp.

The mousepad that came with the dvd is all cool and holographic-ie (I know thats not a word). The box itself is awesome, its has Yasuhiro Nightow's artwork all over the box. Its so neat to see the Gungrave characters looking like the Trigun manga designs. WHICH after seeing this art, I think Nightow should've made a Gungrave manga or at least think about it even though we do have the game from which all of this is based on his idea.

I don't think I've been this giddy over getting a series on dvd ever. I'm really anxious to hear more of how the dub sounds and to FINALLY see it on actual tv and not my small ass compy screen. But am going to have to do it when bubba's not around as it seems I can't watch what I want on the big screen tv in the living room.

I still have to watch last Sat nights anime I taped before it gets too late and Seed comes on before I get that far. But I also want to watch Last Comic Standing thats on Comedy Central right now. Choices choices.

*eyes Gungrave dvd more*

Yay! You finally got it. *shakes fist at Animenation* It's about time. I'm with you, I don't think I'll preorder anything like this again. Yeah, the box's artwork is amazing. It was great to see how Nightow envisioned the characters (and he squeezed in a lot of them on the box). A Gungrave manga would be nice. I would buy that in a second!

I was able to sit down and watch the show today and as I watched it I fell in love with it all over again. The dub isn't bad. The worst offender was Kenny but we don't have to deal with him too long, right? *lol* I'm so mean. When I heard Lee's voice I thought, "What the hell! This man is everywhere!" But I think that he will do Lee's character justice. The laugh is the true test so we'll see how that works out ~_^. The show looks better than it ever did on our computer screens. The video transfer is very crisp and clean.

I don't think I've been this giddy over getting a series on dvd ever.

I know what you mean. It's something special about this show because I've never preordered an anime before (never felt the need to) but with this I was like some kind of hype. Gotta get Gungrave! Man, it was really bad. Now we just have to wait until Sept. for volume 2!

Forgot to put this in my fist comment. Your icon is hilarious.

heheheheh yeah I love that icon too. And the funny thing is, its the same guy that I was graced with for my bday pic. He's got a booby fetish *rollseyes*

I had to cancel my order with Animenation (which I can't remember if I told you that or not). I can't believe the bullshit that goes with pre-orders. Some places will even treat you to sending it a day or two BEFORE it comes out. The only dvd I'm waiting on now to come out that even for that I won't preorder is whenever Geneon releases Tenjou Tenge, which probably won't be for another yr.

I think that artwork on the box is just killer. I'm really surprised that he didn't think of making it a manga later or even while he was drawing character sketches.

I got as far as the 1st two eps, I'm always scared to watch #3 cause thats when everyone dies (the rest of their friends). I think this is the first time that I really saw Jolice's full body after he was shot. Perhaps the compy screen I was watching it on was too dark or something. Yeah Kenny's voice disappointed me. I swear to god Lee's voice sounds like Spike from Bebop but the VA name isn't him. Hehehehe you should've seen the geek in me sit down while watching it on Mon. and jotting notes down about the voices. Once I get done watching the other two eps, I'll post my thoughts.

I think being giddy with GG is that its a series that really pulled me in. I don't think I had an anime that really touched me as much as this one did. Though I like Trigun too (though Trigun is still a bit freaky) and the reasons for what got my attention so much is::

No mechs
No robot wars
Not fighting in space
No big boobs bouncing everywhere

but we have

Kickass gun fights
REAL human drama and emotion

And if ppl can't see that in Gungrave or for what its worth, then they aren't either true anime fans, or fans in general. I think its a shame to see ppl pass this title over. But like we said again, that could be a good thing for us and the fandom.

Yeah! I was really shocked because when I saw that scene. I didn't remember it being that graphic. Poor Jolice! He was such a great guy.

I swear to god Lee's voice sounds like Spike from Bebop but the VA name isn't him.

I just checked on imdb.com and Lee is voiced by Spike's VA! So we're not losing our minds! *lol* This guy has so many aliases you would think that he was a criminal or something.

*LOL* But thanks to that I didn't have to look everyone up on imdb. There were a few surprises like Big Daddy's VA. *LOL* When I read that he was Vampire Hunter D that brought a smile on my face because VHD was my first anime movie.

I see where you're coming from with that list you made. It's refreshing to see something different in anime. Gantz has got me kinda boobed out. *LOL* The human drama was really gripping and these are characters that'll stay with me for a long time. I just don't understand why people didn't like the show. I remember when it first came out a lot of folks thought that it sucked. I mean, the first episode wasn't great but you have to give a show a chance. I'm hoping that more people will be able to appreciate the show now that it's available on DVD.

Well between Gantz and Tenjou Tenge (both anime and manga wise), I'm getting boobed out too. The writers, producers, and directors sure knew what they were doing when it came to making the GG characters come to life. Not even Trigun was that deep.

Speaking of Gantz, heads up that the 2nd season will be airing Aug.26 ^_________^ Though I'm going to dread seeing the Temple scene animated *sniffles*
