Update on my doctor's appt., Naruto news, late birthday shout outs, and stuff

Yesterday morning, I had a checkup regarding my ear and the outcome of my blood test.

Good news

My blood test came out fine. I forgot to ask but does anyone know what the bad # is to have regarding cholesterol? I think mine was 194 which she said was good and that was the only # she read off to me, I guess that was important to know? The fluid in my ear seems to have cleared up, the drops really helped with that...........EXCEPT............

Bad news

While looking in my right ear again, I now have a slight hole in my eardrum. She didn't tell me about this the last time I went in, maybe it was blocked by the fluid, I don't know.

I now have to go to an Ear specialist, get it checked out, and see what my choices will be. My doc. said that for the size of it, it could try and heal itself but she doesn't want it to wait that long, only cause if I don't get this fixed, I'm going to have constant infections in that ear. Just a slight bit of water in my ear can start the mess back all over again.

I also asked her what the scar tissue looks like in my ear. She said its kinda like a white lining/film around the eardrum. Sounds gross.

So THANK YOU genetics for fucking up my body!!!! *grumblesnarl!!!!!!!!!* She thinks that with all the ear aches I had as a kid, has developed this problem. The weird thing about all of this, perhaps this hole was slowly developing cause when I was in the Army, of course you had to get a physical but nothing was ever said about my ears.

She wants me to still use the ear drops I'm prescribed which I'm supposed to use twice a day but I only really use them once a day. Since my ear cleared up, I'm not overly worried about having to do it twice a day.

This morning, I have to make an appt with the ear peeps. And truthfully speaking, I'm a bit scared. I mean hearing about what is wrong with my ear shocked me but I'm scared to see what it is that they are going to have to do to fix this. I NEVER had surgery before, was NEVER cut open (nearly severing my fingers off doesn't count ^_~), and I'm pretty sure that they will have to cut into the back of my ear in order fix that hole. But I wonder, just WHAT they do for something like that. I'm hoping they can see me pretty quick.

Halloween sucked ass. Only had 6 kids come by, if I would've known that, I would've dumped the majority of the candy bowl in their bags. Then it didn't help matters that it started to rain. Watched some of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force marathon, then watched Gungrave on techtv, and FINALLY saw the rest of the "new" Texas Chainsaw Massacre. *falls over in a fit of giggles* So much asshattery in horror movies like that, you can't help but point out the parts that go "DUH! Asswipe".

Whoa! Gankutsuou......like freaky. And THATS just seeing the 1st eps. I'm not sure I like the way all that funky shit they use for the patterns of the clothing and the affects on the hair. Now granted, the art for the animation is pretty neat but that funkiness is kinda making me think twice about it. I'm sure it will grow on me *shrugs*. I have no fucking clue about the Count of Monte Crisco, so what is the story? (and yes I heard of the name before, just not the story).

I still haven't caught up on watching Naruto, shame on me. I haven't been feeling overly giddy/joyful lately on wanting to watch it right away. I'm sure I will before I get too far behind, have to watch 104-106. Actually, probably the filler stuff is what makes me not care.

Just read the content in the link and the comments since other things are explained in there as well.

Ahhh, I've been watching Ganketsuou as well, but I like it. ^_^ It's definitely different, but I've read the book so I'm interested to see how they work out the story.

The Count of Monte Cristo was written by the guy who wrote "The Three Musketeers" and its one of my favorite stories. *gushes* It's mostly about revenge and betrayal and secrets. And maybe even love. The guy Albair, at least in the book, is a complete innocent, and it's the Count that starts revealing stuff and making stuff happened.

Guh. Sorry that was a poor summary, but the story is really good. Here's to hoping the anime doesn't go off the deep end. ^_~

*hugs*

Hmmm....sounds interesting enough to me. Might have to check out the book sometime.

Here's to hoping the anime doesn't go off the deep end. ^_~

I agree.

Too weird that his bday wasn't too far from yours. So happy bday to Bob as well. If not the party hat, how about a balloon on a string tied to his tail? ^_^

Welcome chickie!

My best friend as the same issues with her ears! She's had it since childhood; the fluid, eruption/scarring of the eardrum, and when something starts to go awry, she loses her balance and has this radio-staticy-crunching sound in her ears. She has to be careful before she flies on vacation and whatnot, because one time her ear basically exploded.

I feel for you :(

Damn genetics...I wish we got to pick and choose ourselves!

[identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
O_______________O

That freaks me out, only cause, well, I went through the same shit your friend did. I started to have the radio-staticy-crunching sound when I was flying back to TX after X-mas and of course I had a really bad cold at the time. I just didn't know that at the time, that it probably went to my ear. Fucked me over ROYALLY for 3 weeks when my ear finally popped. In fact, when I first started to get that sound, is when we landed in Atlanta. The pressure HURT SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad, I was holding my ear as tight as I could, TRYING not to cry and curl myself into my seat. The sound was soooo loud, it hurt! When we landed in Dallas, same thing, except not quite as noisy, though still painful. I also blame myself for not getting checked out when I got back regarding my cold. They could've done something for me then.

because one time her ear basically exploded.

Fuck! That doesn't surprise me too much. Has she been able to get anything done regarding her ear problem? See, thats what I'm afraid of too now regarding flying. Will it fuck up my ear now a days or what, whether they fix my problem or not. Then again, I should be thankful I don't fly as much as I use to, we stick to driving.

Damn genetics...I wish we got to pick and choose ourselves!

That would be soo nice indeed.

Hey cool, you're watching Ganketsuou. I've been wondering about it after seeing some articles about it in anime mags here and there.

Someone else beat me to the explanation about "The Count of Monte Cristo", so I'll just say that it's a classic tale of revenge and second the opinion that it's a good read.

Wow, you're in some serious trouble with your ear, huh? Regarding the actual procedure, AFAIK the recent trend overall in surgery has been to cut open less, so they may just make some small incisions around your ear instead. I'm only speculating, but I don't think you need to worry too much about the procedure ^_^

[identity profile] baikautsugi.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, typ-o. That should've been "Gankutsuou".

[identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah the animation itself is weird, not sure if its that GONZO thing or not. Its going to take a few eps for me to really get the hang of it.

I had a feeling thats why they do now a days regarding cutting ppl open. They do that now for gall bladders, just make a small hole and do what they do, and thats it. If they do have to cut me open that way instead of saying, going into the ear itself, the thought of being cut open or just the healing process is what I hate. I have my first appt. next Tues morning so we'll see what the outcome is going to be.

[identity profile] scarbie.livejournal.com 2004-11-02 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad that your blood test results were in the clear. Even though it's scary it's good that they know exactly what's going on with your ear so it can be fixed. *hugs* My aunt had to have surgery on her ear. I'll ask her why and what the doctors did. Whatever they did it healed up really well.

This anime you're talking about... Gankutsuou is based on the Count of Monte Cristo? That sounds interesting!

*trying to recover from beating with dead fish* Heh heh. Thanks for the b-day shout out! It was a pretty uneventful day. Everyone was so busy that we're not going to do anything until this Thursday.

[identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com 2004-11-03 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad that your blood test results were in the clear.

True dat. Less I'd have to worry about medicating myself for.

It sucks to know that something IS wrong, but glad that I finally got this shit checked out before it got worse and thankful for insurance or I'd never be able to afford the visits or my prescriptions.

How long ago did she have her's worked on?

I have my first appt. next Tues morning and go from there as to what needs to be done.

Well bdays are over rated anyways. They were a blast when your a kid but once you get older and don't get all the cool toys, its all downhill from there. Its funny as a kid, you go through so many bday themes. One yr I was heavily into the Smurfs. I got a necklace and some smurf panties (and other things). While I was holding my gifts up so mom could take pics, my cousin looked like she tried to touch my underwear I was holding and I turn to her with a scolding look as if saying "don't touch my underwear you foo if you know whats good for ya!" Course mom has the majority of the pics, which I need to get a hold of when I go home next yr. Hell, my older sis took her childhood pics and lord knows what else for her stash (I have a feeling she might have some of mine that don't belong to her). Plus back in the day, polaroids were the in thing so we have TONS of those kind of pics.

Have fun regardless!

*smacks you with dead fish some more for luck*

:P
