Not much happened in this section but thought I'd might as well write it anyways.
We decided to head down to Houston Fri night and by the time we had to keep driving in circles to find the motel where part of our group was staying at, it was nearly 2am. Would've been better if we had stuck to what we wanted to do the first time, go to bed early on Fri night and head out early that Sat morning, plus would've saved us some money on not having to get a shitty room at motel 6. That one wasn't so great. Sat morning we all headed to Denny's for breakfast (which even that wasn't very good, I guess I'm not overly fond of Denny's food) and after that we went to the Battleship Texas museum (bigass old war ship). BORING! I already seen the same shit when we were driving through Alabama one yr and it was hot in the lower part of the ship since it was quite the warm day. That was another thing we could've saved money on. Spent half the day there and then headed to Galveston to check into our motel rooms (again motel 6 but this time was a little better than the other) and then to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. Had fun there and we got these neat looking flashing cups that they were selling. I'm sure that would fuck with a drunk person's head for sure, trying to drink out of the glass while those lights are flashing, their actually pretty bright.
Sun morning we had to do Mc D's for breakfast >__< *bleh* and had to kind of rush it since they wanted to ride the Ferry boat. It was around 9am when we got to that area and even by that time, you wouldn't believe the line of cars waiting to get on it. So we did the boat to and from and on the way back, I saw something that actually surprised me. I did not know that dolphins were in the Gulf. You could see their fins and could kinda see them peep out from the water as they were riding on the wakes the boat was making. After that we headed on down to the port where the cruise ship was docked at and unloaded the luggage since Linda wanted to board the ship early. Good thing we did that cause the line of ppl that showed up once we were in line got big.
Fuck, those ships are huge and thats just the beginning, once we were in the ship, it was like "oooooooh........ahhhhhhhhh.....neat!!" To me, a cruise ship is only a floating hotel. It was still pretty impressive to see and very creative on the interior designers part as well. Each club or bar or different areas had their own theme. I really wish we had a scanner cause bubba bought the postcard book of the ship and the pics that are in it is very true to what we seen in person. So before the boat got too crowded, we checked all the floors and places and our rooms out.
Here were some weird things we seen:
- they have a running track on the top area of the ship. I guess whatever floats ones boat (no pun intended) but I sure as hell wouldn't though there were some health nuts using it. And a volleyball area. That sounds kinda useless especially if we aren't docked. With the wind and such, you would think it would make it hard to even play.
- (I'm sure all cruise lines do this) they fill their pools up with SALT WATER!!!!!!!!!!!! >___________________< That fucking SUCKED! You can't open your eyes while swimming and you have to be careful not to get that shit in your mouth. They close the pools at 6pm (I think for the most part since some ppl are already attending the early seating for dinner) THEN they drain the pools out every night. So that shit you see on the Love Boat with ppl swimming at night...a lie. *lol* (then again, that is the Princess cruise line, they could be different, who knows). Yet the hot tubs had chlorinated water and the thing that sucked about the hot tubs is that they closed them off by 10pm!!! >___< WTF! They don't think that adults would want to use them later at night??
They had the safety drill around 4pm or so. After that was over with, we went back to our room since our bags finally arrived and started to unpack. By the time we went back outside to see the boat anchor off, we ALL (all as in our group) missed it. Sounds like they started to leave port right after the drill was over and they didn't even announce it that we were leaving. When we made it to the top, we couldn't believe how far from the shore we already were.
Thats about it for the beginning and yeah, this entry sounded like a bore but there really wasn't much to tell for that part.
Next up will be whatever we did on Monday and then Tues's trip to Yucatan. I think I'm going to push bubba on getting him to upload the pics for what we took at Yucatan since I'd rather show you guys visuals too instead of just telling you.
A sad note about the pictures. Out of the 8 rolls we had, only a few turned out. BUT at least we still have the pics from the digital camera AND the best part is all 3 water camera pics all turned out ^___^
