[ficlet] Gungrave - "A Woman’s Intuition" for [personal profile] toxictattoo

Finally got time to work on the Gungrave drabbles *laughs* that I offered to the comm a few months ago. At least I only have two to work with since only two ppl responded to the request.

Title: A Woman’s Intuition
Author: Beck
Characters used: Sherry and Harry.
Warnings: None that I can think of.
Notes: Scene takes place during eps. 8 "Family". Also posted some visuals at the end of the fic. X-posted to [livejournal.com profile] gun_grave.
Prompt: Sherry’s thoughts about Harry when she first met him.
Disclaimer: Me no own. Gungrave belongs to Red Entertainment, Project Gungrave, & Yasuhiro Nightow.

I hope this is to your liking Jan.

Enjoy!

Sherry inwardly sighed. She had never been overly fond of going to the Family gatherings even if it did allow her a rare opportunity to spend time with her father. However, if she had known that her wildest dream would come true this day, her mood would have been very much the opposite. Zoning out while her father was chatting with her Uncle Cid, the young girl happened to glance over his shoulder only to see two other gentlemen standing behind him. Both men were very cute with strong builds, but it was the man dressed in a crisp white suit with cropped black hair and the dreamiest blue eyes she’d ever seen that had caught her attention.

She snapped back to reality when she heard her father ask if the two men had been introduced. Maintaining her politeness while desperately wanting to know the man in white’s name, she informed her father that they had not. Cid stepped aside as her father brought her forward giving her a better view of the man that she was fixated on. Smiling her winning smile, she happily made her presence known.

The two new members of the Family addressed themselves as Harry MacDowel and Brandon Heat. She barely heard Brandon’s name as she found herself even more transfixed by the sparkling blue pool of Harry’s eyes. His voice, deep, sexy and smooth melted her insides as they drummed throughout her very existence.

Having been so hypnotized by Harry, Sherry hadn’t even realized that she had been staring until he inquired of her if anything was wrong. So thoughtful! She told herself as her heart began to race, pumping even more blood into her already reddened cheeks. Could she really be so bold as to ask him to accompany her to the desert table? She gave reply as she heard her voice ask that very same question. When he answered her positively she felt as if she would jump out of her skin, but years of finishing school had taught her how to maintain her “lady-like” demeanor.

As she was walking beside him to their destination she truly felt as if she had met her destiny. Yes, oh yes! Harry McDowel was the man she would marry and build a family with and die along side. After all; as her mother would always say: who can argue with a woman’s intuition?

Heeee! Very nice!

She was so young when they first met and even then, you could tell she was such a lady. But you could tell, when she first laid eyes on him, she knew they would be together.

And they were!

who can argue with a woman’s intuition?

No one! [laughs]

Thank you so much for this. It's just perfect and so very much her voice. It fit beautifully.

Knowing how Sherry's personality is, I wish they would've showed just a little bit about her mother. At least we got to see what she looked like. And it still blows my mind the age gap between Sherry and Harry but I'm glad to see that she was mature for her age.

Thank you so much for this. It's just perfect and so very much her voice. It fit beautifully.

Good, I'm happy to hear it. I wasn't sure if it was what you were looking for or not.

It is so nice to read a story for Gungrave one of my favorite anime's. Thank you.

I enjoyed your viewpoint on the time Sherry met Harry. You captured that moment very nicely. I always had this feeling that she knew from that first moment that they would be together. She was always so lady like and sweet.

...who can argue with a woman's intuition?
So true but their relationship was such a tragedy and she was right that she would die beside him, but he died shortly after her. The entire Gungrave story was sad though.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful story!!

I always enjoy writing for the series regardless of how sad it makes me.

It is funny how Sherry and Harry's viewpoints about each other were different. Sherry fell for Harry just cause of how she felt but I always think that Harry chose to stick around Sherry cause of Bear's status but it did eventually turn into love. Even though the girls didn't have much of a role except for Mika, at least they made them likable and not the typical female that was just there for looks. They were there for a purpose in the main characters lives.

When I saw what happened to Sherry, that totally took me by surprise and then wanted me to be in a fit of tears just to hear Harry crying/tearing apart at the seams. It was kinda neat to see her character being brought back in the Gungrave Overdose game except she stuck to the bad side only cause she wanted revenge against Grave.

Thanx for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the fic, I wasn't too sure if it came off right but was satisfied with the ending results.

I agree with you on Harry's reasoning for at first being with Sherry. They all had a deep respect for Bear and wanted to impress him and show that respect as well. Thus Sherry was a great way to do that. But yes it did turn into love eventually.

I too was saddened by Sherry's end, but I think something more tragic than Grave/Brandon destroying Harry's Millenion to make him change. Unfortunately it was Sherry's death that was the catalyst.

I have not seen any of the game except for a few screen shots. I have only seen the anime. Which I fell in love with and have seen many, many, many times. *hee hee* So Sherry came back huh? Did she come back as a necrolyzer? How did they explain her appearance after dying?

So true considering that all this time he thought she was going to be safe where he was taking and not expecting for her to be killed out in the street. I'd like to believe that once she was gone, it caused more of an empty shell in Harry, knowing that he'd still fight if he had to but not really caring if he ended up dead or not.

Now in regards to Gungrave Overdose, the thing that doesn't make sense to me is that, GGOD was finished before the anime was. I'm a bit torn to believing that Sherry was killed off like in the anime or that she wanted to become strong to get revenge for Harry. Cause in the first game, she was never mentioned. She was a powerful/swift character in the game and could whoop your ass if you weren't on your toes. It takes a bit to finally kill her since she moves so damn fast. They didn't say in the game about her appearance. When you first see the group of bad ppl, you have no clue who she is till Grave has to fight her. Plus they also brought back Bunji which is weird considering how he died in the first game, I wouldn't have thought there was anything left of his body.

I uploaded these to the comm not too long ago but it was probably before you became a member. I uploaded them again last night so you can get the chance to see the movie clips of GGOD. The graphics were really good, especially the new character design they gave Grave. Plus the two allies, RocketBilly Red Cadillac (RB) and Jyuji, are great characters, hence why I wished they would've animated GGOD too. Spike is a cute character too but sad story attached to him.

This is the movie scenes from the game:

And these are some sample clips of RB & J's fight scenes:

What makes me mad is that the key points to the story of the game happens before you get to the next stage so the important stuff isn't shown in those movie clips. Reason I say that is cause you find out more about Spike's past, a little bit about RB, and Jyuji's secret.

J's secret is that, he is Bunji's brother. BUT they don't give us any background as to what J was like before he became part necrolyzer. He does explain what Garino did to his body in some sick experiment, thats about it.

Let me know what ya think after you had the chance to watch those clips.

Thank you very much for uploading those movies for me, I really appreciate it and really enjoyed them as well.

I really liked RB and Jyuji they were refreshing characters and a little comic relief as well. I wish they would have went more into who they were before they were necrolyzed. Plus they didn't discuss their relationship with Garino. Do they go into that in the game?

Even though they both would deny it, it seemed as though they had a little crush on Mika and they both respected and liked Brandon. But how could they not, he is the greatest. *hee hee*

So Jyuji was Bunji's brother huh? That is an interesting little tidbit. Especially because it always seemed like Bunji was a lone wolf and had no family. Especially in the anime because he always considered Brandon his family.

I enjoyed Spike as well. It is really sad the way he died. I would have liked to learn more about him as well and his relationship with Garino.

I wasn't as surprised by Sherry's appearance in the video because she was killed of in the anime and she could have been necrolyzed. Even though they did the game before the anime, they probably had that idea all the time and knew that could be the explanation. Who knows?

But it does seem weird that they would bring her back to exact revenge on Brandon. The way it sounds from you discussing her, they just brought her back as an after thought. Especially since they never introduced her at the beginning. Perhaps they thought at the last minute that it would be a good diversion to bring her in to hassle Brandon?

The most confusing part to me was Bunji. I mean didn't his body completely disintegrate in the anime? How on Earth could they bring him back? Hmmm... thoughts to ponder there for sure.

As I said before I really appreciate you giving me these and it definitely was nice to see more Gungrave stuff, especially my honey Brandon!
