Lets see where I should start.

The 2nd shift guy told me a couple weeks ago that the company isn't going to have a X-mas party this yr. One of their lame excuses being? People got DRUNK!! OMG!!! Like, how dare ppl drink at X-mas parties!!! *rollseyes* Not that I really care since the last time I've been to a company X-mas party was back in '95. And if I were to go to this company's parties, I'd be a lonesome dove since I don't know squat of who is who. But anyways, Johnny was telling me that the hotel that the party was at also gave a discounted room rate to those who were too drunk to go home. So its not like the company had ppl driving drunk.

Then I was informed on how shitty the health benefits are now. They had their yearly review to those that have it through the company and heard nothing but bad things. You'd think for a company who just bought out their competitor which has given us alot more of a workload, that they would treat their employees better, especially when it comes to benefits. All I can say is that even though Greyhound isn't up to par since 9-11, at least they still have decent benefits since I'm on bubba's insurance.

Now they are also doing away with us printing out our timesheets to turn in. Instead, they thought of such a BRILLIANT idea to create a website that you do your timesheets in, your pay stubs will be uploaded through there instead of getting a piece of paper, and other things that deals with the company. They wanted to get this thing going by this coming week but they realized, the site isn't working and they still don't know what the fuck they are doing. Don't you think that if you were planning on creating a dumb idea like this, that you would've had started early summer and THEN know what the hell you are doing so by the time the end of the yr comes, everything is working??!!! I guess thats just too much thinking on their end.

I hate to say this but what the hell is next???!! Doing away with our yearly bonuses and raises to where we only get them every 5 yrs or so??!!!!!!!!!! Yes, we do get a nice size bonus which is separate from our raises (we also get them at the same time). But with the way this company is trying to seem to pinch money, I'm afraid to see what they will do.

Another gripe is last night, my super came in and was telling me about how the meetings he went to the other morning and what he and the main guy that is in charge of us in the whole distro and print room discussed. Course one of them being is taking vacation during 4th quarter. Steve said that he did let Chuck know I was taking a week off for X-mas and it seemd that Chuck still was on edge about it. Its not like::

#1. I don't have the vacation time

and

#2. I'll only be using 4 days since we automatically have X-mas off.

I told Steve that this is probably the last time I get to go home for the holiday like this till say, another 3-5 yrs. He said he understood and was looking out for us and brought it up about how its not fair to those that do have families out of state (since he's from Boston) And why should ppl who are in that predicament be fucked over while other ppl can be with their families or whatever during the holiday without having to take off during the 4th quarter. Of course, as we all should know (even though they might not admit it) the higher ups I'm sure take vacation as well during 4th quarter, yet its so wrong for us little ppl to do it.

So Steve tells me that I'm being tested/put-on-the-spot since I guess this was the first time they were going to let someone have this much time off during the holiday. Oh gee, don't I feel special. He was like "make sure you come back when your supposed to." Well NO FUCKING SHIT SHERLOCK!!! Like I would waste the money we spent into my plane ticket and then not come back??!! Sure its nice to visit my family and all but its just not worth being or living in PA anymore. I told him that the only thing that would prevent me from coming back is if something happened to my plane, I could tell he didn't like me saying that but hell, thats the only way it would keep me from coming back.

*sigh* Oh well, I should be thankful that I was granted the time off though as much as I was afraid to ask to begin with.

Will most likely be spamming my lj this morning since #1. our cable internet is down again and #2. I have to work OT so this gives me something to do till 11am.

We also have another X-mas party to go to this evening but this time at the other fire dept bubba was in when we lived in Chandler. Once that is done, then we gotta make that trek back home, go to bed, and both of us has to get up early to go to work.

The place I work have had electronic timesheets for about five years now, but our building didn't start using them until six months ago because we decided to wait until they bigger powers that be worked out the bugs in the system. Our paystub is in the form of a secured website where we can print it out if we want a paper copy. But it's funny seeing the email that says: You've been paid!

That sucks about no Xmas party. I kind of wish I could avoid our Xmas party. They tend to be rather boring affairs with lousy catered food. I miss the wild 80s days when just the department I was working in at the time threw the party. It was potluck with a cash bar and we'd start the party at noon and let it run it's course. Now that the party is held by the director it's a 3-5 affair that's catered with champagne punch (boring). (That boring was done in Homer Simpson voice, if you didn't recognize it. ^___^)

Well thats cool though that it gives you an email when you got paid. I was trying out the online timesheet last night and was about ready to burst a vein cause it kept logging me out and then when I clicked on the area for My Timesheet, there was nothing there, as if I had to set up my own which confused the hell out of me. The 2nd shift dude showed me what had to be done tonight and finally understood it. He said he had no clue either till he was playing around with it and it sounds like the others who are messing with it knew what to do but DIDN'T bother to LET others in on it.

The X-mas party didn't faze me all that much since I'm not the kind to get all dressy. Now the other job I had back in PA where I last attended a party, it wasn't anything fancy so it was right up my alley. Your parties from back in the days sounded really good, tis a shame on how much they change now a days.

OH MY GOD! BASTARDS! That sucks! I know what you're talking about though- Giant is thinking about doing away with all their health benefits. I'm like, YOU *BITCHES* THAT'S WHY I WANTED TO WORK FOR YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE! GRAAAAAAUUUUUUGH! Let's just hope our union gets off their asses and actually DOES something about for a change. -_-; Oh! BY the way! I'll be e-mailng you my contact info tonight after work so we can try and meet up when you're in town. ::hugs;: hang in there! Boo on stupid work.

Yeah I know from what I heard in CA that some grocery store employees are on strike cause of the benefits, not so much on the pay. That will suck if Giant decides to do that and I hope that the union are able to do something about it. Man, thats one thing I miss not seeing down here besides not seeing any Hardee's and thats Giant stores.
