I was quite shocked when I got word of this. I'm so excited about it too, I haven't seen this show since, well, the late 80's before they took it off tv. The only time I got the chance to see the show was while I was waiting for the bus. I only got to watch at least 15mins of it before the bus came so half the time I never saw the endings of the eps. It was rare if I was able to catch an ending or two of the show. I think its great how they are offering it as a 4 disc set.

Here is the link that has all the news about it::

Jem on dvd

This would make a great wedding anniversary gift for this month. *nudgenudgewinkwink to a certain someone who might be checking my lj out*

Oh wow! I used to love that show. *remembers her Jem doll* I have to send that info to my best friend. She absolutely loves that show. She bought the 2 VHS tapes that are currently available.

That's messed up. I know you're happy to get the chance to see a complete episode. I hope your husband picks up on your oh-so-subtle hint. *LOL*

Wow, it's been a while since I've heard anyone mention that series.

I know, I am damned excited about the DVD! That's going to be an immediate purchase at the end of the month (I have such plans written in my LJ from a week or so ago...heehee!) It's about freakin' time too! I was a bit obsessed with all the cartoons, every doll and the second editions, rockin roadster, star stage etc etc. lol.

Hell yeah! Its going to bring back so much memories of my childhood once this comes out and I get a chance to get it.

I'm thinking about bringing it up to hubby about getting each other something for our anniversary and that would be the one thing that I want for the time being. I'm hoping Best Buy will have it, I really don't feel like ordering online.

Amen to that! I always thought Jem was extinct or that ppl didn't even know the name. Glad to see that it will be back and kickin!

I thought I saw someone mention it awhile back but couldn't remember who or where. Yeah it is about time they re-released the damn show, I thought that it would've been forever lost in a vault collecting dust. Shame for me though cause by the time I wanted to start getting the dolls, anything regarding Jem was so hard to find. I still have my Jem, Aja, and Misfit Roxy dolls. All the cool stuff that they had on those Jem posters that came with the dolls or the commericals were so awesome. Was too poor and too late to collect much but the little neighbor girl had just about everything she wanted >___< and treated her dolls like trash.

I still have the cassettes that came with the dolls too and they still play good. IF they bring back anything regarding the fade, I really hope they don't change a damn thing with the old Jem style or I'll be pissed. I'm not happy over the new change to Strawberry Shortcake, the Care Bears are about the same, MLP got uglier, and I'm not overly pleased with the new Rainbow Brite stuff now either. *sigh* nothing like the good ole days.

From: [identity profile] elegant-torture.livejournal.com

I can't stand the new trendy, slimmed down Strawberry Shortcake with her cell phone either and all these "new" versions of Care Bears...I do not recall a "Harmony Bear" and whatnot...and it seems like they're cashing in on recent events/sentiments as evidenced with the white care bear with the American flag in a star or something.

SADLY, my sister ( a Jem cartoon fangirl as well) did some research and it's said that Hasbro will not be resurrecting the Jem doll, stating the collection was their biggest flop ever in their doll history! What?!?!?! So why is it that you and I and so many others thought they were fucking great? And I know we're not wrong ;)
All my Jem stuff is gone :(
When I was 13, my dad took all our dolls and donated them somewhere when we moved. Damn orphans, what the Hell do they know about Jem? I am still bitter >_<
Heh.

Isn't it great? I remember reading rumors about a dvd release a while back when I was on a nostalgia kick and scouring the web for info on all my childhood favs, but at the time there was nothing definite. (And all those "definite" re-releases of the original MLP movies never panned out. They were listed for pre-order and then removed a few months before their scheduled release. The bastards.)

Guess maybe I should have mentioned this site a little sooner...
http://www.jemunlimited.com/home.htm
It's got songs and entire eps available for download...and lots of other fun stuff to bring back the munchkin in you.

I agree with you. I would have never thought that the Jem dolls were a flop. It seems like I and all the other little girls at the time wanted those.

*LOL* I can feel the bitterness coming through my monitor. But I can understand where you're coming from.

When I was in kindergarten we had show and tell and I brought my Jem doll. It was still pristine and everything even though I had it for a while. Some other girls brought their Jem dolls and they were all messed up. Some of them cut the pink hair out so the doll would look more like Jericha. Their dolls' earrings didn't light up any more. Why did one of those little bitches steal my doll? I was traumatized. Still am really.

From: [identity profile] elegant-torture.livejournal.com

Stupid little bitches! there's a reason why there was a berrett to match Jerrica's dress, so that they can toss up all the pink hair underneath!
I feel your pain! I think at this rate, we should form a support group! lol

UGH! I didn't get the chance to look that hard at them, just once I saw them on the shelf, I walked away in disgust.

Oh god, how pitiful!

Well I guess in a way its a good thing they won't bring them back. Having it that way, makes the original all more the worth while. Lord knows what they WOULD look like in this day in age O__O. I know I would read up on this Jem website about the yrs of production for the dolls and why they quit. I was like "how could they be a flop dumbasses!!!!!!!!!" I do wish that they would come out with a cd that had all the songs on it. Lord knows how much longer my cassettes will hold out w/out the tape getting old and rotten.

I too would still be bitter. If my mom would've done that with ANY of my childhood collections, I'd be in a rage! Now its just that mom can't WAIT till I take all my toys back to TX with me. I would like to as well but we'd probably have to rent a small trailer to hook to the truck in order to haul everything back.

Yeah I know that they kept saying that there were talks of a dvd release but nothing was written in stone. I'm so glad they got off their asses!!

ACK! I would've loved to have the MLP movies!! I can't remember the title but I do know baby Moondancer was the star of that movie and for some reason, that evil Cat lady wanted something that Moondancer was wearing. Was it the crown or cloak?

Well I will say I do own the MLP movie (I think it deal with the sludge and those icky sisters and mother) on VHS. I got that by sending in so many proof of purchases from KRAFT.

Yeah I love that Jem site, I think its one of the best things out there for old childhood memories. I'll have to go back and check it again. I know its going to bring back alot of memories for me once I get a hold of that dvd set. I can't wait!

From: [identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com

I always had a hard time getting her damn pink hair up in that berrett. I can't remember what it was that I did to make it hold. My Jem doll's earrings still work but I'm afraid to keep the battery in too long in case it would corrode. Hell, its the original battery too!
