Was checking places out to see if I couldn't find out what the dealy-o is with the recent holding of the subs. Now we know why, this came from a staff member from AonE::
couple people on spring break, couple people on heavy midterms before spring break, at least one person with a serious life-changing event ...
we're not "in a bind" but we've got a stalling point. I'm currently working on alleviating that stalling point myself ... (currently working on episode 4 of 7 planned). You'll probably see at least one more tonight (assuming my last pass at this one was up to the normal specifications) ... and probably somewhere between 2 and 5 more releases tomorrow.
This is also in regards to Gungrave::
you know .... lots of people are asking this. It's starting to get annoying. We have had at least 2 flooders in aone main today who flooded things like "I WANT GUNGRAVE 21 GODDAMMIT" or "where's gungrave 21" over and over again. It made me want to smash them, but since it's irc and not real life, I couldn't smash them and had to settle for banning them for an indeterminate amount of time. Anyway ...
Short answer: yes. We're still doing it.
Long answer: yes, but since I'm not caught up on it I don't feel comfortable making it move myself. I'm filling in for like 4 other people right now, whose jobs all happen to be the same... so basically since they all went on vacation or just randomly disappeared all at the same time, it's kinda rough keeping up. That's the whole source of our slowdown right now, we had like 11 things piled up waiting for the same step in the process...
If I still have time and mental energy after these last 2 eps (or depending on a certain bodyguard/encoder, maybe 3 eps), I might decide to say "screw it" and head over there too, which could (in theory, maybe) bring out another 2 eps of that series too... but it really depends...
The rudeness of the ppl bugging them came from their IRC area. I really hate it when ppl can not ask nicely and ASK what the hold up might be. Just don't demand that they come out with it NOW. Not only that but with ppl's attitudes on demanding things right away causes subbers to quit subbing certain series and that has happened already.
Even we are civil in our own LJ as much as it was aggravating on not knowing why. But now that we do know, we can only hope that they have something for us by the end of the month. Now if it were the case where they quit subbing it just cause of it being licensed, then I would be pretty fucking pissed off, I didn't want this series to turn out like another Wolf's Rain, who some groups quit just cause word came down that it was picked up. Sure some of us knows how Gungrave ends but to see it animated is another story. Plus to string us along this far and then stop, that is a cause for some rioting to go on ^_~ Not only that, but if the excuse would've been also about the license part, then they shouldn't have done it in the first place since it seems that Pioneer picked this bad boy up right after the first eps was aired. I also found two more groups subbing this series but they are so far behind, just in case something did happen to AonE.
I can only wish the peeps at AonE the best of luck on the hard jobs that they do for us.
Oh well, at least we still have the raws to keep us sated till the rest of the subs do come out.
