Fucking CAT!!!!!!! *screams throughout the house*

Turned on the compy this morning and went minimize a window when I noticed the arrow was barely moving. I turned on the overhead light and got on the floor to look. And what did I see???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fucking mouse cord chewed in half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I use an I guess what they call an optical mouse, the one where I don't have to worry about the rolling ball underneath. I know these aren't the cheapest things either. I called up bubba to see if he could buy me another one and told me to use his for the time being. *eyetwitch*

The cat who did it was Smokey. I DO NOT KNOW WHY this cat feels like he JUST HAS TO chew on every god damn thing!!!! He chewed through bubba's pager recharger cord though bubba was able to tape it back together with electrical tape. Oh, keep in mind, this is the 2nd time the cat chewed through it. The first time bubba had to replace the charger.

When bubba was finally cleaning up his compy room, he found one of his cords chewed, I think the antenna for his stereo. So now he keeps his compy room door closed when he's not in there.

Looks like I'll be doing that now to keep both cats out of my room when I'm not there.

Recently, I can't even get the radio stations to come on in my stereo yet the other options work fine. My compy stand is a bit heavy to move away from the wall to see if anything was chewed. Also inspected the rest of my compy cords after seeing what happened. Good so far.

And yes, Smokey was punished. Got sprayed the shit out of the water bottle, showed what he did wrong to the cord and smacked him with it. This is going to be a hard habit to break with him, I can see it now. And no, he's not a kitten.

What you could do to get him to chew on something else is go by WalMart and buy one of those little potted catnip plants. He'll learn to chew on the plants (which I don't think you have many in your house anyhow) instead on nasty cords.

Just an idea. Might help!

Btw, rumor has it that Doris is supposedly going away for a week's vacation or something. So I'll let you know more, and maybe come up Thursday and stay till you get sick of me. :-P

The way one of them was acting so sick last week, I should invest in a plant that they can both chew on.

As in this coming week to come up? Let me know that way I can tell bubba I can't go to his family's at the lake this coming weekend cause of you coming up. I told him about it but said I'd double check with you, that way I can get out of going again ^_~

Oh no no no... not this coming week! X_X;; Sorry, my bad.

I have NO IDEA when Doris is supposed to go away for her vacation thing. It's supposedly sometime in July. It'd be nice if it landed during your birfday, so I could come up and celebrate that with you all.

But I'll have to let you know as soon as I talk to her daughter. She may not even BE going. If that's the case, I'm looking at a weekend in August after my summer school is over -and- before the fall semester starts.

But for now, let bubba know that you can make it to his family shin-dig. I'll just keep you posted as much as possible.

OMG! The cat ate the mouse!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I recommend a wireless mouse. There's no cord on it.

*HUGS*

We still need to catch up.

Love,
Jenn

I was so pissed, I didn't even think of that till you mentioned it *lol*

Indeed we do. I'm also trying to get caught up with all the comments and get back with you on the question you asked me last week.

*giggles* I'm sorry... not to laugh at your experience, but I too had a cat that chewed through everything. Clothing, books, cords, you name it, she chewed it. I picked everything off the floor *clothing and shoes* and usually kept my door closed when I was gone but what I did with the cords and wires was rubbed them with lemon juice and pepper and that kept her away from that area.

Being that I wasn't going to walk around smelling like lemon pepper, I really couldn't do much about her chewing up my clothes and such but she did stay away from the computer desk. ^_^

Maybe that will help.

Don't kill the kitty.... he... uh.... didn't mean to??? *eeeep*....

Good luck on training him!!! ^_^

Re: *HUGGLES*

My god! I don't know how I'd be able to handle that if he did that all the time. I know when we had the puppy at this house and was outside, he would chew on the wooden window ledge and bubba would put tabasco sauce on it. Which it did keep him away from it for the time being.

I'll have to tell bubba about putting something on the cords so the cat does stay away from them.

I'll try not to kill him. That is, until I see something else chewed through, I won't know what will keep my back from doing it. ^_~

Just alot of water spraying and my foot up his ass should do the trick *lol*

*smiles*

Just teach him and it will be good. Granted, I know it's hard cause he's not little anymore. i know cats don't like citrus stuffs... oranges, lemons.... my cat used to HATE cranberry juice and if we put it near the laundry room, like in a bowl, he would shy away from it and would RARELY go into the kitchen cause he had to pass the bowl of cranberry juice. But he never chewed chords. Only Chloe did.

Hmmm... well... it will be good.

Ack! And that's dangerous for kitty, since he could chew on something electric and get zapped.

I'm with Anna's suggestion--try rubbing the cords with something the cats won't like to taste. We used to have to do that with our horses--they crib terribly, so we ended up spraying some of the woodwork with a mixture of cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and black pepper. It worked for a little while...the habit is just so ingrained in our mare that there is little that will deter her from cribbing.

Anyway, I don't know if they market stuff that keeps cats from chewing on cords, but I'm sure you could find something that would work. ^^

That is why we were shocked that he didn't get zapped when he chewed through the pager character cord, it was still plugged in O__O.

I'll mention to bubba about putting something on our chords, hoping it works. Would be nice if there was something out there they sell to keep cats or dogs from chewing on stuff. I swear, this cat will try to chew on anything he sees. Sam knows better so we don't have a problem with him. You'd think Smokey would learn from Sam or have Sam smack him around a few to knock some sense into him *lol*
