A beginning rundown of Gungrave Overdose

I did a write up so far of what I've covered in playing the PS2 Gungrave Overdose game at gun_grave; entry to that is here.

So the only thing I'm posting here in my own LJ are the slight spoilers that I've encountered. I say spoilers cause to some who want to play the game, may not want to know about whats what or who might be in it that they might want to discover on their own. This is by your own discretion if you want to take a peek or not, I'm not telling you to do so unless YOU want to know. Actually, there is a bit of mentioning of the first Gungrave game as well regarding a character.



Right now I started Stage 6 The Lab and I came to the Boss at the end of this stage. There is this really big ass creature that pops out from the floor. When you are told just WHAT this creature is, I was like "WTF NO WAY!" in a state of shock/stupor. This creature, as Mika will tell you, is Bear Walken, Balladbird Lee, and Bob Poundmax's superior forms all merged into one.

That's right, lets all say it together now, WTF!?

I'm still in a bit of shock over it though its kinda neat that they brought them into this game. Though it makes one wonder how they came across their remains to create this monster. Then again, they brought back Bunji too so how did they recover his body from the 1st? I even have the Japanese GGOD guide book for the game, though it doesn't help me out at all since its not in english. Which it would be nice if they would come out with an english version to this. I'm sure it would help one along on each parts of the game.

Here is the kicker if you want to know how to try and defeat it, since I have yet to do so myself, only cause my lifebar was low to begin with when I got into that room.

All around you are these tank containers. It seems that if you shoot at those, these little creatures pop out at you and try to fuck you up as well while you are trying to take down the Monster. In fact, if you use one of your demo attacks at the Monster and pretty much kill it, don't get too excited cause it comes back. What you have to do, is blow up these 4 main targets in that room. Once you destroy those, its supposed to destroy the Monster. Though what sucks is that while your trying to blow up those targets, your back is facing the Monster so your screwed on them having open aim at you. Sometimes if you keep jumping right when you think they might attack, helps out a little bit. But since you also got Lee's blade arms trying to slice at you, its a bit hard to time the attacks.

I brought this up to scarbie when we were discussing about things that could happen or go on in GGOD when the movie clips came out and I kinda pieced this together cause it would make sense. What Garino does to his "father" (yes, it was not his real father, he was adopted), it makes you wonder if Harry didn't do the same thing to Big Daddy in the game Gungrave. Meaning, Garino injects his father with the Seed into his neck and that is how Don became a necro rise victim. So Harry being the bastard he is/was, I can see him doing the exact same thing to Big Daddy, cause how else would have Big D turned into that horrible creature?


And that is all I have for now until I play the game some more and find something else that would shock me.

It is pretty creepy/freaky looking. I wish there was a way I could get a screencap of it but I know I can't. Perhaps in a few months once GGOD is more known to gamers, someone might be able to snag a cap of that creature.
