For movies, I saw a commerical for a horror movie coming out on the 29th called "Saw". OMFG! It looks gross, sounds gross, yet I wanna see it!! Wesley (he will always be Wesley to me) from Princess Bride seems to be one of the characters in a very bad situation in this movie. I think the link to the movie to check it out is called http://www.sawmovie.com (sorry, I can't check to see if I'm right cause they have it blocked here at work). Not sure what the premise is but it seems like these ppl are chained, either to their ankles or wrists and they have to saw their way out. Though it seems like in order to get out or free yourself, you might have to cut off that body part *shudders* BUT the thing is, I don't want to see this movie alone, especially for how creepy it looks. I know bubba isn't going to want to see it (plus he works 2nd shift on the weekends), unless I can get my nephew and his girlfriend to come over that weekend and take Megan with me. Another movie we still have yet to see is Ladder 49 which does look good but almost reminds of me of another Backdraft (which was good too).

For music:

Since nothing good was really on tv, not even the movie channels and even the comedians on C.Central friday nights weren't thrilling to me, I had the debate on in the background while I was making good use of emptying out our cd boxes and take a pic of our collection for that pic meme. Looking at some of the cds I have, made me realize I haven't listened to certain ones in a long time. So tonight, I took my Roy Orbison Greatest Hits and my Red Hot Chili Peppers "One Hot Minute" cds to work. I'm listening to Roy and made me realize how much I loved this kind of music. Alot of my influence came from mom, the '50's/60's child. She still has alot of her oldies music records & disco records and still recall her playing them for us kids. The one that sticks in my head the most is Buddy Holly's "Peggy Sue". When I was little, mom would play that song she had on a 45 and would swing me around and dance with me, singing the song as "Becky Sue" (no, my middle name is not Sue). This is also coming from a woman who named my older sister after the song called "Tracy". (though I never heard the song nor knows who sings it). So in my cd collection I have::

Roy Orbison "The All-Time Greatest Hits"

Buddy Holly "Greatest Hits"

Tom Jones (yes, I know, I'm weird like that) "20th Century Masters"

Tommy James and the Shondells "Anthology"

But aside from all those, back to Roy's music. I think I liked his music and voice much better than Elvis ever was. I like the songs on this cd though you can't help but dig the classics like "Only the lonely, Crying, Love Hurts, Pretty Paper, Blue Bayou, Oh Pretty Woman."

On a different note regarding certain albums mom still has, I'll never forget the cover to Paul Revere and the Raiders. You have these guys dressed in tights and looking like a bunch of dorks, bulges and all *lol*, well at least those that weren't afraid to show it::

Not sure who the short guy was. And whoever was their costume designer, you'd THINK that someone would've gave them ALL matching boots!! At least the two who are hiding themselves have OZ boots on *snickers*

A memorial birthday today for John Lennon. Damn, he would've been 64 today. Though I wish Mr. Lennon was still with us, I would've loved to hear his opinions of the world today. Also, Mark David Chapman, the guy who murdered Lennon, had his parole hearing this past week. He was DENIED again for another 2 yrs I believe. This man should never even get the chance to have parole. If Charlie Manson doesn't why should Mark?? I wonder if Sean Lennon will be as active as Yoko is on making sure that her pleas are heard about not letting Mark free once Yoko dies.

Okay, thats enough for the night. Must get back to prodding the brain.

Their costumes reflected uniforms during the Revolutionary War period. I believe the short one is Charlie Coe. The pic is kind of small, but I think that's who that is, depending on what year that album came out.

Freddie Weller, who was fairly successful as a country/western singer in the 70s was also a member.

Mark Lindsay (the lead singer) wore his hair in a pony tail and supposedly had the longest hair of any rock/pop singer of their time (middle to late sixties). He was always getting flack about it.

Looking at that pic again, I realize the short guy isn't Charlie Coe, he's the one on the left. I don't know who the short one is either, maybe Smitty?

Speaking of older music, I've been getting nostalgic over Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. I NEED to get a CD of Whipped Cream since the only copy I have is for my parents' old reel-to-reel player that no longer works.

Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Who is that? The name sounds so familiar yet it doesn't ring a bell.

WOW! A reel-to-reel player.

Here's a website with a good bio of Herb Alpert and if you click on the album cover for "Whipped Cream" it brings you to an Amazon site where you can hear samples of all the songs. (I had fun with that!)

My Dad bought a TEAC reel-to-reel player when he was in Vietnam. Apparently, you could get electronics better and cheaper in Asia then you could in the US then. I think at that time (1967), people in the US still considered Asian imports to be of inferior quality. Anyway, many of my parents' albums that were my favorites were bought for the now-defunct reel-to-reel. Hence my lusting for the Whipped Cream CD. ^_^

Re: Uhm....

Yeah I can see that since the little guy on the far right could pass for a Davey Jones as well as the others.
