Saw this article and still don't know how to react to it. I'm shocked and annoyed. I grew up about 30mins from there, been there dozens of times and still don't know where all the battlefield sites are (there are or WERE so many scattered) and it hits a deep spot in me to read about what they want to do. Its sad when you drive through certain areas of the town. So much development going on so near the battlefields that it really does take the history out of it. Protests or no protests, I think its still going to happen for them building it. I may not live in PA anymore but it still disturbs me.

This part just KILLED ME:
The site of the proposed casino was of relatively minor importance in the three-day battle — some Confederate troops gathered there before heading off to fight.
So I guess as long as the places where they want to build are nothing of importance, its okay to just do it anyways *rollseyes*
and the fact that it is kind of out in the middle of nowhere adds to the effect of the whole thing. *sigh*
I couldn't agree with you more on that. When you are overlooking the area while at Little Roundtop or even at Devils Den, the wide UNDEVELOPED open space is just breath taking.
Its sad to see that hardly anyone gives a fuck about preservation anymore, money talks apparently.
