Dukes of Hazzard movie preview

Saw a preview link to the Duke movie and had to check it out.

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/thedukesofhazzard.html

WARNING:

Take it with a grain of salt. DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING like how the tv show was. In fact, think of it as the dorky spoof like what they did with Starsky & Hutch.

Casting:

I had no idea that this was what they settled for. I know mid last yr there were talks of different guys for Bo & Luke but the ones they stuck with still actually has me laughing over it.

Johnny Knoxville as Luke

Seann William Scott as Bo (seems like he's the dimwitted one of the cousins)

Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse (which I can actually see him playing that role)

Wow, Lynda Carter is in this but I wonder who she's playing as.

The downside of the movie::

Jessica Simpson as Daisy. I think I'm going to be sick. If anything, this would be the reason I would not go to see the movie (and yes, I wouldn't mind seeing it). That fake southern drawl makes me wanna spork my eardrums.

Burt Reynolds as BOSS HOGG??!!!! WTF! Last time I checked, Boss Hogg was short and FAT!

Rosco and Ennis (sp?) never heard of the actors before and they seem pretty lame.

The one good thing is they are at least keeping with the traditional style of the General Lee. If they would've fucked that up, you know the true Duke fans would've had a shit fit. Besides, you can't have it being the Dukes of Hazzard without the traditional style of the General.

I've heard the General Lee doesn't get the flag on the roof till later in the movie. They bring it in for repairs, and the mechanics paint it on as a joke.

I can't believe I'm wasting sentences writing about this movie. Egads!

That sounds fucked up regarding what they do to the car.

I can't believe that I even made a post about it *snickers*

The original Dukes of Hazard series was based on a movie called Moonrunners with Jim Mitchum (Robert Mitchum's oldest son). He played one of two cousins helping out their moonshine-making Uncle Jesse beat the competition and the revenuers. They're last name in the movie wasn't Duke, however.

Learn something new every day. I never knew that though I was a huge Duke fan when I was little, had the matchbox car sets and everything. Was Moonrunners a one time deal made for tv or what?

No, it was a movie made at least a couple of years before The Dukes of Hazard was made. I remember ABC showed it on their Sunday Night at the Movies when Dukes became popular. I guess they were hoping to cash in a little on the popularity since Dukes was a CBS series. *grins*

I was looking Moonrunners up online and the synopsis calls it a comedy-drama but I don't remember it having much humor. The villians were real villians, not two boobs passing for the sheriff's department and a power hungry munchkin with half baked ideas.

I did not know that! Cool!

As I responded to Beck, even though the movie is listed as a comedy/drama online, I remember it to be much more serious than its Dukes offspring.

Yes, but... is there a Flash in it? *grins*

[identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com 2005-05-13 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Good question. They better! and if they do, they better have the same kind of dog that Flash was and not some bullshit breed that isn't even Flash.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I don't think I'll be wasting my money to see it but I wouldn't mind seeing it when it comes out on dvd. I just can't STAND Jessica Simpson, thats the only hard part I'll have when it comes to watching it and the fact that fucking Burt Reynolds is still Boss Hogg *rollseyes*

I knew about all of this for a while. It makes me cry to see this. I almost cried when I saw Starsky & Hutch. Fortunately, I've learned to like that movie for what it is. Have you seen the casting for the Miami Vice movie? Colin Farrell as Crockett and Jamie Foxx as Tubbs.

[identity profile] yankeerose69.livejournal.com 2005-05-13 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I remember when it was just in talks of making it and nothing was set in stone yet. And when they did start making some way when it came to who was going to play who, that Paul guy from Fast & Furious was going to be Bo but I guess they didn't want to go with him (which I think he would've been much better) but I guess if they wanted to make Bo a dingbat, I don't think Paul would've been good to use.

Its weird how they are making these remakes into spoofs and nothing serious. Thats why I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO scared to see how Miami Vice is going to be. Glad you brought that up too cause I couldn't recall who was going to be Tubbs.

Oh and THEN I heard or read about them wanting to do a remake of the Honeymooners but get this, they want to use a black guy for Jackie Gleason's character. Are these ppl on fucking CRACK??!!! His character was white last time I looked. But I guess that ranks up there with having a black guy play Kojak too. (nothing against them but it takes the originality out of it)
