Sat night, bubba's friend from the fire dept., his wife asked me if I would want to go to the Women's Expo with her and her friend Sunday afternoon. I had nothing else to do so I said sure. I was a bit nervous as to what all goes on in these things since I'm not into womanly fruu fruu stuff but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. This was also the first time I was ever in the Dallas Market Hall. When we got there and as we were walking near the entrance, a lady came up to us and asked if we had our tixs yet (which we didn't) and she handed us free tixs (the admission was $7-10). Good thing too since I didn't have much money to spend to begin with.

It wasn't a bad little shindig. There were vendors and other booths that had different kinds of info and junk. And of course free samples of food and products. *lol* There were some booths that had candles but I had to hold myself back on buying them cause I wasn't sure what else might be at different areas.

Two things I did buy was a very tall bottle of 360* perfume by Perry Ellis that I got for $20 (after tax). Thats a steal considering that a small bottle runs for about $30 at the mall. Lovelovelove the smell of it and I'm not much of a perfume person which is odd since mom and both my sisters love perfume.

I bought the book Wicked that the Broadway Musical is based on. For those that don't know what Wicked is, its about the life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West. I heard and seen so much about it but #1. didn't know it was in book format and #2. the musical hadn't come to Dallas yet. Weeeeeeeellllll.............. I shall wait no more!!! Wicked is coming to The Music Hall @ Fair Park from Oct. 6-23. I'm so fucking stoked. Now the real deal is trying to get hubby to go. I know the wife I went with to the Expo has been dying to see it too and said that we should all make it a night to go see it. I can't wait to start reading the book. There is a sticker on the book that says Son of a Witch which has a release date for Oct this yr. I'm curious to see what thats going to be about.

Oh yeah, Beck! The book is so good! The musical has a lot of liberty taken though, just so you know. I'm hopefully going to see it this fall in Chicago - I was supposed to go over the summer.

Oh, and remember my Gungrave fic "Borrow The Moonlight"? The song used in it is from Wicked. ^__^

I'm on page 33 and already, I'm hoping that parents aren't letting their kids read this even though its from the land of OZ. I was already O_____________O when I read certain sexual inuendos and that was just in regards to puppets.

I'm reallyreallyreally hoping to get hubby to go. I heard that the tixs aren't that expensive, like the better seats are around $30 while the cheaper seats are around $18 and what not. Good luck to you if you can get the chance to see it.

The musical has a lot of liberty taken though, just so you know.

Oh yeah? In what ways?

Funny how I didn't even think about that at the time. I mean I heard of the name but didn't know it came from that musical.

The musical is a lot lighter and fluffier than the book. Far fewer sexual innuendos. And while the book in based on Elphaba's 'wicked' deeds being caused by political actions, the musical romanticizes it a lot more.

And it goes FAR beyond the puppet thing too...you'll see what I mean.
