This month is like a non-work month. The next time I'll be back at work will be the last week of this month O___O.

I'm heading out to go home to Pennsylvania today on a Greyhound for about 30hrs X_______________X. The ORIGINAL plan was that bubba and I were driving this evening after he got off work. Well since gas prices fucked the whole plan up, we are scrapping that idea. Last Tues. bubba came to me asking what I'd thought about if he didn't go home with me (well we were also going to stop at upstate NY to see his sis for 2 days) and how I felt if he could go out to NOLA and help out if he could. I told him he could do what he wanted but he better make up his mind so I can find a way to get HOME! We looked online that same day for airfares, same airline I will be coming home with but the price one way was already $192 and that is already with tax. While I'm on the phone with my older sis telling her about the change of plans, bubba came to the idea of me just taking Greyhound since we ride for free (the only advantage of him working for the company).

The thing that sucks about not being able to drive home is that I can't bring anything back with me that I wanted to or that my sis already had stuff for me to bring back. Bubba figured out round trip for gas would've been about $200 or so and that is us using the car since it gives much better gas mileage than his truck. Plus it only roughly takes us about 20hrs or so to get to PA but since we live closer to the route we take, I'm sure it would've knocked a few hrs off of travel time.

The contact ppl never got back with bubba in regards to helping out and he found out from another fire dept person last night that he knew, told them that FEMA was not taking in anymore volunteers. But that isn't stopping bubba and his friend from their fire dept. They are heading out this weekend with the FD paying for their trip except for their rooming.

At least I can FULLY use my two weeks to spend with my family instead of wasting those few extra days in NY. I fly back to TX on the 25th.

I leave Dallas today at 12:45 with umpteen small stops and 2 changes of buses *headthrobs* But I wanted to leave as soon as I could so I guess this is what I get. I'm not supposed to get into York till 6:15 Sunday morning but after seeing a certain layover, thats going to change.

I was telling my sis the bus schedule when I noticed I will have a 4 FUCKING HOUR layover in DC!!!!!!!!!!!! >_________< 4 HOURS which is like totally uncalled for when York is only about 2-3hrs away god damn it!! We get into DC around 11:50pm Sat and don't head out to York till 4:15am.

My sis said that she'll talk with her hubby about what he thinks of driving down to DC to pick me up, see where the station is located, etc, etc. She called me back the other night saying "You better be glad that you have a brother-in-law who loves you." So Brian is driving down to DC to pick me up that night and the drive is only about 2hrs & 8mins and roughly 100 miles. Good thing we live in southern PA.

She was telling me how Brian was asking one of the truck drivers at his work about that area of DC where the station is at and the guy was like "thats a bad part of DC." And Brian was like "yeah, I thought so, thats why I'm going down there to pick her up." If it weren't for him doing this for me, I'd be buying myself a can of mace today cause even though I'm sure there will be ppl around, I just don't trust how some ppl are when they see a lonely female.

I really wish that either the gas prices did this in early Aug cause I probably would've had a better price in regards to flying instead of nearly last min stuff. I'm totally going to dread this bus trip.

*flails* I still have half of packing to finish when I get home __-__;;; I guess having this much time on being bored on the bus will help me catch up on reading the mangas I've bought, my Wicked book, and HOPEFULLY get some fic writing done with the Bleach and Gungrave fics I managed to start. Though the only thing that sucks about that is...........my handwriting!! I've actually come to hate writing on paper, I seem to lose my train of thought when I do that and half the time can't read my handwriting. I'm taking the laptop with me but won't be using it since my battery won't last that long. Can't find my fucking discman so I'm screwed on not listening to music. *screams*

Its bad enough I have to *gaspu!* deal with dial-up internet when I get home. *weeps*

I'll make a reg. "I'm home" entry sometime on Sunday. Wish me luck on this damn bus ride.

Ah, the above message is me. I forgot I had cleared my cache and cookies yesterday before I left work. Oops. :)

Bubba said that he got his pics developed that he took while they were in that area that weekend helping out. He said they were kept busy with the fires that they had to put out, so much so that they had to make like 3 teams to go out on the calls. I haven't looked at the pics yet but I'm hoping to do so in the morning and hopefully get a link to post too.

He was going to go back during his week off that he took for vacation but decided not to since he had other things to take care of at home that needed done.

Its good that we can ride the bus for free but the only problem is having to deal with the bullshit that goes along with it.

If you bring a large enough suitcase that could fit what you want to bring back they could store it under the bus, just make sure you watch them put it on or it may end up lord knows where.

Thats always on my mind when I take the bus. When I decided to get off in Baltimore instead of having to change buses when we were in DC, I got off the bus to make sure they didn't take my bag off (which they did) but I put it back in the bus and told them I was getting off in Baltimore instead.

In regards to the movies, I think thats with certain buslines cause the different busses I was on when I changed, didn't have that feature. But I guess it didn't matter too much since it seemed like I was constantly dozing off.
