I uhh...am a proud owner of the new Queen dvd and cd. I didn't really want to win it but it just irked the hell out of me that the clip they were playing on the radio and NO ONE knew who was singing the remake to Tie Your Mother Down. Those that called in were being assholes, giving out stupid names that they knew better that wasn't singing it. So leave it to me to come to the rescue cause even the main chick dj guessed wrong (it was her side kick that was playing the clip for the give away). Needless to say that I shocked them for knowing it off the bat. I asked if they wanted the singer or the band. I was kinda hesitant since I was sure but not quite. It was Warrant (yes the hair band that did Down Boys and Cherry Pie). I mean Jani Lane's voice is very easy to pick out, how could these ppl not know!!!??? I was nervous as hell when I do these call ins to radio stations especially when it comes to contests. It was funny cause I was on my way to work and called the first time on my cell phone but hung up cause of being nervous and thought that maybe they would've had a winner by now. Then I said fuck it and called again and got through, I was a good driver and pulled off to the side of the road cause of the amount of time I was on hold and I didn't want to be distracted. So when the dude got my info and wanted to know my bday, I told him the year and he goes "damn your young" (and these djs were about mid to late 30's). For one, I'm a music nut!! I can pick things out from the 50's on up (except for disco, country, rap, and pop). Plus during the time when Warrant was popular, I was a teen so yeah, I was a hairband fanatic. I guess it pays to know this useless info.

I have to remind myself to call the station either in the morning or Fri morning to see if my winnings are ready to pick up and find out where the station is. Thing is, I don't know if I really want this. Sure I like some of Queen's music but we'll see how this set is when I get it. If anything, I'd rather have had the Slaughter best of package they had beginning of the week (which I have no clue if they did give it away) that had all the re-releases of their albums including Vinnie Vincent Invasion that Mark and Dana were in. I have that on cassette but would be nice to have on cd. I mean I'm not hip on Slaughter anymore either but if I had to choose between Queen and them, I probably would go with the latter.

So yeah....umm... go me and my useless knowledge!

wow! congrats! that's cool!
i myself would adore that but they don't give away stuff like that on our radio stations ... our prizes are potentualy stupid... $25 to the local flower shop or $5 to dairy queen! whoopie- doo! very seldom to they give away cds and stuff like that .. sometimes they give away concert tickets.
any i hope you enjoy the dvd and the cd. that is so cool!! ihave all three of thier greatest hits cds and probably a few cassettes of theirs too.. uh... does that date me??
hmmm i'll have to go to sam goode and see if i can find it!

Man, your stations sound like they totally suck if they give those type of crappy prizes out. I mean I know that Dallas is a big area hence why the decent give aways but even when I was still back in PA, I believe they had semi decent prizes too. (of what I can remember)

I tell you what, once I go pick it up and look it over, if I really don't want this set, I'll sell it to ya way cheaper than what you'd get it at the store, more likely sell it to ya for $20. I'm not sure if that cd is live too or not or what it might have on it. I do know that they are showing Queen on Direct tv's concert of the month on channel 103 that is on that dvd. Just let me know and I'll let ya know once I finally go to the station to get it. I just don't want it laying around the house if we're not going to watch it.
