those that know what I'm talking about, could ya fill me in on something?

I downloaded my sis's Jerry Cantrell's cd (for those that aren't sure, he was the guitar player and backup vocals for Alice in Chains) and since I'm listening to it now, does anyone know if Layne Staley was still alive at the time when this cd came out? Some of the songs sound like Layne's voice, but also, it goes to show how Jerry did ALOT of the background vocals with Alice in Chains since his voice is very distinctive.

Plus does anyone know what Layne died of? I'm sure it was a drug overdose but I haven't heard anything. Hell I haven't heard anything as to what also killed::

Joe Stummer, the lead vocals for the Clash

or the lead singer from Drowning Pool who was found dead on their tourbus.

I think that they had some of the songs recorded but not ready for a cd yet on the last AiC album, and the last I heard it was heroin over dose that did Staley in.

Stummer was the singer and guitarist for the Clash and died of a heart attack at his home in England.
Dave Williams was the lead to Drowning Pool found dead on the bus with no known cause of death. They are trying to replace him though- I don't know how well it will work. He was good.

Ahhh thanx for the clearing up. I know DP was always talked about here since they are from Dallas. I know they had Rob Zombie do a song with just the rest of the band members once. I too heard talks about them looking for a new singer but haven't heard if they gotten anyone.

I believe Joe Strummer died of a heart attack..Although all the news articles at the time said something like "Strummer died of a suspected heart attack.." Or variations of that..But I don't remember anyone saying it was something other than a heart attack either.
It's a bit strange really.
As for Layne Staley and the lead singer from Drowning Pool I'm afraid I don't know..

Thanx for the heads up about Joe, I just never heard anything during the time of his death or the days after, no one has mentioned it.

I believe the lead singer of Drowning Pool had a family history of heart problems and that was linked to his cause of death. I'm not positive though.

Which CD is it from Jerry Cantrell? If it was his first CD, then Layne was still alive. I don't even know if Cantrell made another one (or two) since his solo debut. And Layne died of a drug overdose (didn't they not find his body for a few days?) which was attributed to heroin.

Strummer died of a heart attack.

Jerry's cd that I burned from my sis is Degradation Trip, that was labled as being done in '02.

Thanx for the heads up on the others.
